PMS
it must be pms.
i feel my life's a mess.
i go to work,
and every jerk
is adding to my stress.
i hate my job today.
but i need the measley pay.
so i keep on trying
tho i know my boss is lying
when he says he wants me to stay.
call my family for support?
they have their own problems to report.
so i head home
and off the phone.
i need a glass of port.
i walk home in the rain
and enter the house of pain.
the hubby is whining,
i've planned no fine dining.
the chaos is driving me insane.
"it must be pms."
i think while i undress.
i go to bed,
but bad dreams fill my head,
and add to my unending stress.
"If I could throw this lifeless lifeline to the wind . . .
If I could, I would, let it go." - U2

Let me sleep . . .

Let me sleep . . .
i lie awake in pain
from the dagger he has thrust into my heart.
yet peacefully, he sleeps.
i cry out in agony
as i try to remove the knife embedded in my soul.
but his snores overpower my wails.
the tears fall on my pillow
as i drown in his hateful, abusive thoughts.
he dreams on, unaware.
i shiver in the cold
harsh realization that i cannot fight on.
comfortably warm, he lies beside me.
my exhausted mind gives in
to the gaping wound that will not heal.
he has won.
i cannot live
without heart, without soul, without warmth.
please let me sleep . . .
forever.
"and when you're sad and you're scared and you're broken, will you give in?" - the greenberry woods
I want to be what I was when I wanted to be what I am now.

It's No Wonder

It’s no wonder
You always defended them and not me
You never dressed up
Never took me dancing
Or kissed publicly
So why should I wonder
When you went to lengths to defend her
Added cologne to your vanity
Came home late
And left so early
Oh-
How nice of you
How nice for me
How nice for you
Must be good for us
I really should have known
It wasn’t for me
How could it be?
You never loved me
I want to be what I was when I wanted to be what I am now.

Patty your work is very touching and as Gerry said, very expressive. I read it and imagine a woman or many women experiencing day to day trials in some cases and in others abuse that is hard to live with, but for this woman in your poem, harder to live without for her sacrifice of being alone. I like how it's written and I like how you write it in such a way that it relates in lamens terms to us women out there! lol!
Great job!
