Grandma was Right

Character consists of what you do on the third and fourth tries.

Do you remember when you were a kid being told “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again?”  My gram used to say that all the time.   When I was a kid, I got it, on one level.  It meant don’t give up, keep trying.  It’s a good lesson, it really is.

But as an adult, I really figured it out.  Not giving up when things aren’t going according to plan says a lot about who you are as a person.  Do you cave in when the going gets tough, or do you keep pushing forward until you achieve success?

I’d like to say that I ALWAYS push forward, but that just wouldn’t be true.  There have been times when I’ve caved in and given up fairly quickly, but there have also been times when I’ve kept trying and had the sweetest of successes!

Let’s be honest, there will be times when you’ll have to walk away from an attempt, and that’s okay, but for the most part, stick to it and don’t give up and see what great things you can accomplish.
