Consequences

Share on:

There is a sense in which we are all each others consequences. – William Stegner

So I’m trying really hard to wrap my mind around this quote.  I picked it on Sunday, and I’ve been mulling over  it since then, and I’m still not sure if I get what it’s saying.

I think maybe it’s to remind us that our actions have consequences, not just against us, but consagainst others.  Therefore, we need to be careful in all that we do because our actions impact others as well as ourselves.  I think that makes sense.  The chaos theory says that a butterfly flapping it’s wings in New Mexico has the potential to cause a huricane in China.  If that is true, then it makes sense that we are all each other’s consequences.
