Is it Worth it?

Share on:

An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.  – Ghandi

I work in an environment where revenge and retribution are commonplace.  If someone does something to you, the mindset is you must do something back, something worse, and the sooner the better.  I ask people all the time, “Is it worth it?” “Does it make anything better?”  Their response is usually something about  how now everyone knows not to mess with them.

I have to be honest, I hate this culture.  I hate the way they think, and I work to change their perspective every single gandhiday, and I will continue to do so for as long as I possibly can.  Revenge doesn’t get you anywhere.  It doesn’t make you stronger, and it doesn’t make you better.  In fact, it only serves to bring you down.  Don’t do it.  Be the bigger, better person.  I’m not saying it’s okay to let people sh*t all over you.  Not by any stretch of the imagination.  Stand up for yourself, and stand strong, but if somebody does something stupid toward you, let them.  Let them know  you’re not going to stand for it, let them know you are a strong individual who won’t stand for their shabby treatment, but most of all, let them know you are a better person than they are and stand strong.
