Don’t Judge

Share on:

Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.

I love the appropriateness of this quote in the wake of the sequel  of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.   In the novel, Atticus Finch says “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.”  Both quotes are pretty much saying the same thing, and are extremely profound.  You never know what’s happening in a person’s life.  You have no idea what is going on in their heads, the drama they are facing or the struggles they are dealing with.  Even if they tell you, you still won’t know because it’s not happening to you, it’s happening to them.  So cut people some slack, and don’t judge people based upon one interaction.  Take the time to understand and get to know them.  You might learn something that surprises you.
