Focus on What You Have

Share on:

If you cry because the sun has gone out of your life, your tears will prevent you from seeing the stars. – Rabindranath Tagore

I was talking with someone the other day and they were telling all about how they want this, and they need that and they want to get the other.  All focus on what you havethose things would make their life so much better.  It seems to me they spent a lot of time focusing on what they didn’t have.  I think if you focus on what you have, you feel a lot better.

It’s easy, very easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what you don’t have.  I catch myself doing it all the time.  But it’s just as easy, in fact, if you’ll excuse the New Englander in me for just a moment, it’s wicked easy, to focus on what you do have.  But not just things. Focus on the good things in your life.  You may not have your dream job, but you have a job. That’s no small feat!  So instead of being unhappy and negative because you’re not CEO yet, be happy that you’re working in the mail room.  It’s a place to start, right?

I know a lot of people say pooh pooh to the law of attraction.  That’s fine.  You get to believe or not believe whatever you want.  But it just seems like common sense to me.  Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, focus on what you have.  Appreciate it and be grateful for it.  You’re just going to feel better in the end.
