Looking back isn’t going to help you. Moving forward is the thing you have to do. – McKayla Maroney
For everyone who is around my age, I apologize for the ear worm that the title Don’t Look Back has caused. What can I say, it was a good song, and
the title works for the quote! Don’t look back, a new day’s breaking….it is so true What good comes from looking back? Not a lot. Sure you can see the mistakes you made, which is good. If you’re aware of what you did, hopefully you won’t do it again. But in the end, the goal is to move forward, and you can’t really do that if you’re looking back.
Don’t look back. No matter what has happened in the past, it’s that, the past. Leave it there and move on. No good comes of beating yourself up over past mistakes, nor does any good come from constantly reliving your glory days. Yes, maybe you scored the game winning touchdown in the playoff game in high school. That’s awesome, and it’s a fun memory to revisit, but don’t let that be the only thing you do in life. You may never score the game winning touchdown again, and that’s okay. Keep moving forward and living your life and accomplish new things.
Don’t look back, you’re not going that way. Look forward to the future and focus on your dreams. Don’t focus on your mistakes or rest on your laurels. Neither is going to help you accomplish your goals. Keep your eyes on the prize in front of you and keep moving!
