It is not in the pursuit of happiness that we find fulfillment, it is in the happiness of pursuit.~ Denis Waitley
I had to give this one a lot of thought. Logically, you would think that when we get what we’re looking for, we’re happy. Then I really started thinking. I thought about my wedding. I worked so hard organizing, trying to make everything perfect. My dress was absolutely stunning, so were my attendants dresses. I had what I thought was the perfect venue, everything just seemed pefect. Yet when the big day came, and everything was said and done it was such a let down. All I could think of is “This is it? It’s over? Now what?”
When all was said and done, I was anything but happy when it was over, in fact, I came down with a miserable cold. I got so caught up in the end result that I forgot to enjoy myself along the way. I had so many opportunites for joy and happiness during the planning, but all I could focus on was that big day. Well the day ended, and there were more things to work toward – that’s good! It’s always good to have goals to work toward, but enjoy what your doing as you work toward those goals. Don’t think that achieving that one goal is going to make you the happiest person in the world, because as I said, there are always more goals to work toward. Enjoy the journey and find your happiness along the way.
