Make the Best of it

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out. -John Wooden

Things do NOT always go according to plan, that’s pretty much a given.  On the road trip of life, there are lots of hidden speed bumps, detours and pot holes that are working to disrail us on our journey.  The goal is to not let them thumbs upderail you, but use them to enhance your journey.  Okay this road trip thing is getting a bit tedious.  The fact of the matter is, no matter what you plan, those plans often go astray.  How you deal with it shows the true measure of who you are. Do you curl up on a ball crying and fall apart?  Do you fuss and fume and throw a hissy fit, or do you look at what’s happened and make the best of it?

Chance are, you do a combination of all three depending on the severity of the plan kerfluffle.  Honestly, the best think you can do is take a second (minute, hour day) to regroup and figure out how to make it work to your advantage.  You may not see it right away but take some time to reassess the situation and you’ll find a way to make the best of it, and who knows, your plans may turn out even better because of it.
