Let Go and Move on to Greatness

We’ve talked before about leaving the past where it belongs, in the past.  It’s a great tool to learn from, and happy memories are great. I, however, don’t tend to look back on the happiness.  No, I get stuck on all the crap that has happened, the negative things, the things that have hurt me, and the mistakes that I have made.  I don’t think I’m alone on that, but I can only talk about me!  Right now, in fact, I’m mired in a past event and I’m reliving it over and over again, trying to think about what I could have done differently so that I wouldn’t be feeling the pain I’m feeling right now.  But guess what?  No matter how many different scenarios I come up with, it’s not going to change ANYTHING!  Why?  Because that event is in the past.  It’s over, and it’s done and it’s never going to change.  No matter what situations I come up with, no matter how many what ifs run through my brain, that event is over and done with, and all that is left is the heart wrenching pain.  And the pain is heart wrenching because I keep going over and over the event trying to come up with a different ending.  I am attracting more pain to me because I keep going over a painful event.  I’m not going to lie, it’s stupid.  Instead, let the past go.  We all have the potential to have an amazing future if we’d only took toward it instead of looking back.  Take what you’re hanging on to, write down, put all your emotion into it, and then burn it, rip it up into a million pieces, or flush it, lol.  I don’t care what you do to get rid of it, but do it, and tell yourself that you are releasing the past, releasing the pain and moving on.  Set your sights on the greatness that lies ahead – it will come.
