Earthquake in South Asia

Post by FallenMagic »

Hey guys

I don't know how many of you are aware of the devastating earthquake that hit parts of my country this weekend. I ask that you remember all the victims in your prayers and if you'd like to donate anything, especially warm clothes and blankets, then to contact the Pakistan Embassy or ask me for details on how to contribute financially. You are under no obligation to contribute, i know you have to help your own country with the New Orleans disaster but please do keep us in your prayers.

Thanks you

Were you or your family affected, Rida? I hope everyone in your family is okay! I will certainly keep you guys in my prayers. Let us know where donations can be made, too. That way anyone who can donate will know where they can do it if they want to and know that it will go to the people who need it. It's unfortunate that in this computer age there are a lot of cons out there trying to get the money we want to give to those who need it. The feds just shut down about two dozen web sites asking for money for Hurricane Katrina victims, because the sites were bogus, some of them were in other countries, Africa and places, others were here. And none of the money was going to victims. But there are legitimate places to donate, and we would love to have your advice on who to contact. Let us know how the recovery efforts are going in your country, too, if you can. We are definitely with you in spirit all the way and very interested in anything you can tell us.

Oh Rida,

I am so glad you posted...now we know you are all right.
It all started with a boy, a girl, and a silver handprint.

Thank you guys. Gerry my family and I are all fine cuz thankfully our city didn't get affected but I had a couple of my friends there who are shaken but thankfully they are unharmed. Relief efforts are extremly intense, we have never seen such a joining of people ever here and it is very heart warming but there is still so much destruction. It is very upsetting but we are doing the best we can. A lot of help is being offered by the international community which is great. We need all thehelp we can get but even then it is such a delicate situation cuz you never know how the structure is beneath the collapsed buildings. Landslides have blocked a lot of the roads so many towns are totally inaccessible bu road and by helicopter as well due to it being a hilly terrain. But again we haven't lost hope yet!

A lot of NGOs are open for donations for the earthquake as well as some of our local NGOs. Here are some information if you'd like to help:

In response to the devastating earthquake in South Asia I plead with you all to kindly donate generously towards the relief efforts. A sustained and concerted effort is required to help rehabilitate the regions and people worst affected by this unfortunate disaster. Donations may be made through major Humanitarian and Charitable organizations – below are links to reputable organizations where donations may be made:

OR Deposits may also be made directly into the Pakistan Earthquake Relief Fund from any bank – the account details are as follows:

Account Title: MKRF - Pakistan Earthquake Relief Fund
Bank Name: United Bank Limited
Account No: 0102598-5
Branch Code: 1234
Branch Name: Al-Rehman Branch
Branch Address: I. I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi , Pakistan
For international telegraphic transfer from any bank abroad also indicate
Swift Code: U N I L P K KA

I'll keep you updated on the latest and your prayers are appreciated! :) Thank you guys so much

Take care
