I can only begin by saying I know I'm no poet. But that doesn't mean I can't try.

So for what it's worth I'll share the efforts.



ONCE LOVED




The birds sing no sad lament

no tears for spring's sweet song

but of what is without regrets

for what has been is never gone


On unfurled wings of memory

through starlit night they soar

until gentle dawn enfolds me

until darkness claims no more


Until our smiles softly shared

are the only portraits to remain

and quiet days and nights we cared

yeild forth the truths they sustain


To have truly loved

if only once

to be loved but briefly

is enough

Eternity's Passage



Each moment

slips

bittersweetly

through our hands

Returning as memory

morning mist upon the mind

So shifts

time's subtle sands

in a circle of passage

on an unbroken line

Faces



Faces,

mere traces

of the thoughts that dwell within.



Juxtaposition,

unceasing transition,

of what was,

is,

might have been.



Proof,

real truth,

remains hidden away.



Faces,

only traces,

that which we choose to display.

Circle of Doubt




Shadow cloaks light


A restless spirit

a wandering wraith

in the starless night


Seeking

beseeching the silence

if not the answer

then

the question at least


A specter

in search of peace

Longing to cease

caught

in eternal flight


No sanctuary awaits

to free the soul

from the bondage of otherworldly sight

No response

No wrong

No right


No way

to draw

the shadow from the light

Echoes of Silence



In echoes of silence

as the final blast fades

there settles the dust of dreams



In a war without violence

death's stillness invades

choking the aunguished unspoken pleas



No quarter is asked nor given

from the camps of either domain

come only echoes of silence --- apart



So it is souls are riven

leaving empty shattered remains

upon the battlefield of the heart

Child of Man



Barefoot

unkept

ragged clothes and runny nose

Huddled for warmth in the darkened doorway

Through a prismed curtain of falling snow

the urchin's eyes are remembered best



Night unparalled

Cold

beyond bitter frosted winter chill

A place where only demons dance



Spawned

not in Satan's Hell

but horrors of the mind



Eyes

that have never known humanity

Web of Dreams



Woven with quiet artistry

Up

Down

Across

A fragile tapestry

from doorway to eaves

Fierce in its delicacy

Each translucent

silken strand

a lifeline

to which we cleave

Clinging

Shimmering

Holding fast

in the shifting breeze

Until swept away

with heavy handed carelessness

So casually

the beauty is undone

Leaving

tattered and torn

only shattered strands

A broken web of dreams

Heart Song



The voice of the heart

sings in quiet whispers

No screams

of maddened desperation

It soothes

with understanding

guides

to gentle trust

drifts

in silent peace


The voice of the heart is love

The Telling of Sarah Jane


The rain

doesn't trouble her

and the squalid alleyway

is of no concern

She's found her way

beyond the streets today

Though peace

is yet a mockery

in her glazed

vacant gaze

Pain

finds no resting place

upon dampened sheets

of crimson haze

The world

is oblivious

to this child's unknowing remains

Strolling

indifferently on

Crumpled

clutched in her fragile hand

the reason she has gone

Two lines

a bitter fare

Tell it to the wall kid

nobody cares

A Wasted Life



Falling


A free falling emptiness

no freedom at all



Twisting

Spinning

Arching



Beyond the grasping reach

shadowed blurs

the sound and fury

of unknown life in unseen halls

A plunging spiral into depths without end



Falling



Down and away

Away from smiling faces

with dead eyes

The chittering

chattering

twittering

too loud laughter of clattering magpies

Strutting their worn facades

at a grotesque masquerade ball



Hurling



unchecked

in the ehoes of silent screams


Torn from the soul

born

to die

an unheard call



Falling

in the vacuum of vanished time

Ideals and beliefs

thoughts and dreams

Whether wisdom or folly

will nonetheless be

In visions and voices

of the sage or the fool

is a refractive reflection

of every man's view

Cruelty


Cutting

Rending

Slicing away

A fabric

of wounds not forgotten

Ragged

bloodied remains

Unthinkingly

relentlessly wielded

a blade without remorse

is a fine tempered sword

Who really was quite contrary

When she was told to go

She angrily bellowed no

And that was when Teri was Merry




There once was a fellow named Kevin

Who when he died went to Heaven

But upon arriving there

Found someone in his chair

So Kevin couldn't join his brethren




I had an old parrot called Sadie

Whose past was very shady

The language she'd use

Prompted me to accuse

Sadie of not being a lady
