:clap

like the funny limericks.

love the last one too . . the canvas of lined paper . . excellent! :clap

your limericks remind me of an exercise i challenged our poets to on our old board. of course, in the move we have lost many of our poets, but maybe i'll revive our exercises. hmmmm, if they weren't lost in the ezboard crash.

EDITED to add: I found some of my "exercise" threads.

Posts of recycled threads to follow.

Oh, I agree with Patty! Those were totally amazing! The limericks were so humorous and very well done, and the untitled poem after it was great! I really liked that one a lot!

The limerick about the parrot reminded me of a funny story I once heard... about a very pious lady who had a female parrot that talked. To her horror, a less pious relative came to visit and taught the parrot to say, "I want sex." The lady asked her pastor or priest what to do, and he said bring your parrot over to my house. I have a male parrot that prays and quotes the Bible. My parrot will teach your parrot to be proper again. So she took her parrot and left it at the pastor's house. When she came back to get her parrot, it still said, "I want sex." Even worse, the pastor's parrot had stopped praying. "What happened to you," the pastor asked his parrot, "You were so pious! Why don't you pray anymore?" "My prayers were answered," the parrot replied, "What do you think I was praying for all this time?"

splatty,

Glad you liked them.

The exercises sound interesting but I think it only fair to warn you that I'm pretty weak on actual form. But, that said, I would be more than willing to try my hand at some exercises. :D

Board hacks are the worst, there is always so much great stuff that was built over time that gets lost. :(

Oh Gerry,

Thanks so much for the funny story. I'm still trying to get the soda off my monitor. lol

Yup, that lady's parrot reminds me of the way I envisioned Sadie, could corrupt a saint.

Thanks for the feedback.

Seasons of Love

Post by tessalynne »

Seasons of Love

Touch

The midsummer wind

Stirring

a vaguely unsettled breeze

Fleeting breath

upon heated skin

An uncertain rhythm of release

Eyes

Crystalline flame

Sunlight

dancing on winter snow

Brilliant

blinding

with intense aim

Melting

Shifting

Ice to fire's glow

Laughter

birdsong in spring

rising

in melodic delight

Fading and falling

on distant wing

The ebb and flow

of autumn's flight

Beauty

a vision

more form than line

Love

unbound

through seasons or time
If I were half the person I want to be, I'd be twice the person I am.

Lord of Deceit

Post by tessalynne »

Lord of Deceit

From an ebony chamber

Upon hatred's seat

A Darkling Lord

to reign does seek

His blackened soul

consumed

His kingdom

yet eschewed

An eon's

torturous task undone

A single failure

to succumb

With tribulation's

patience worn

He seeks once more

to claim his throne

To break

salvation's silver threaded grace

To seal

in fate

our ravaged race

Called forth

were his malignant minions

Sent forth

to do his evil bidding

Destroy the scourge

their quest and toil

Seek evil coronation's foil

From Heaven's rafters

shook the world

As jubilant

his hordes returned

Enraged

the Master's wrath did tower

Once more

he sensed his thwarted power

You've failed you imbecilic fools

Within my night lives yet the light of truth
If I were half the person I want to be, I'd be twice the person I am.

:thumbsup :love
I like the themes in Seasons of Love, the way each segment ties in: touch, eyes, laughter, beauty.
I like the second poem, too.

Thanks so much. 'Seasons' didn't come out quite as I'd originally envisioned it, but then that happens sometimes. :D

Simple Things

Post by tessalynne »

Simple Things

Butterfly's flight

from blossom to bud

Cricket songs

on a starry night

Whispering wind of gentle rain

Sunset's glory at day's end

A fire's warmth on a winter day

The shining

serene reflective face

simplicity's softening grace.
If I were half the person I want to be, I'd be twice the person I am.

Gerry,

I'm so glad you liked it.

You're right about the simple things, guess I even remember it some days.

An untitled little piece.

Eagar little pup

beaten down

bent until she broke

Her master's voice

sometimes a torment

others sweet bliss

Will his call

bring unconscious cruelty

or yield gentleness

She dare not hope

his thoughts unknown

Therein lies the crux

Confusion's curse

An ardous torture

this uncertain heart

Aw, that was nice! And it could have symbolic meaning, too. The pup could be a person, symbolically... a child's relationship to a parent(s), a wife's relationship to her husband (or vice versa), or even society's relationship to its government. A lot could be read into it, symbolically. Nice poem, Teri! :thumbsup :heart :heart :heart

Terri I like this poem a great deal. I imagine the pup and picture nature with it's hard slaps of reality. It can as Gerry said relate to us as well as nature with our good times and our bad times that we face every day of our lives. Very good poem!! I liked it!!! :)

Thanks so much for the kind feedback Gerry and Angie. Must have done something right with this one as all symbolism was purely deliberate.

So glad you enjoyed it.
