Narnia
Okay, I don’t know how many of you read The Chronicles of Narnia books, but I am currently busy with the seventh and last book.
It was one of the Best series books I have ever read. Here is my description of the books.
1: Magician’s Nephew: this book was in the beginning very difficult to read, but I became used to it. For me it was about the Creation story. It was Genesis in a better descriptive sense for those who didn’t know about how God created the Earth
2: Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe: This book is about the fall of man in the Garden of Eden and how sin came into the world.
3: Horse and His boy: This one was a little boring to read, but I had to read it because to follow the story you had to read every one. It is sort of part of the prodigal son parable that Jesus told the disciples.
4: Prince Gaspian: This too was about the love of a son for his father and how the sins of the father would come and visit the son
5: Voyage of the Dawn Treader: even though I loved this book it was quite difficult to distinguish the true meaning of the book. So I have to read the book again to determine what the true meaning was
6: Silver Chair: Temptation is the only description I can give you.
7: The Last Battle: This book is synonymous with that of Revelations in the Bible. It showed the End of Narnia as Revelation shows us the End of the Earth, as we know it.

This series of books are one of those books that I would read forever and even the day when I am married with a family of my own I will pass it on to them

thanks for that. i never had anyone break it down for me. i started way back in like 6th grade when i had to read lion...

and i thought that was the 1st book. and i read i thonk 2 or so after it and never finished. but now seems like a good time to continue.

You are pretty much dead on. I wrote a thesis paper one time comparing them to the bible.

The only one I'd disagree with is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. to me, it's not so much about sin coming into the world..that's covered in The magicians nephew. Wardrobe is more about the whole Jesus dying on the cross so that sins may be forgiven thing.

I never thought about it that way. It is just that when Aslan died I thought that it was a simbolism for when Jesus died on the cross for us and when He rose from the dead. Could you e-mail me your thesis. I would love to read it.

I love The Chronicles Of Narnia! C.S. Lewis was a master of his genre, and the series was definitely intended to mirror the bible story. I read it a long time ago, and I have the whole set. I also love his trilogy, Out Of The Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength. And I also loved The Screwtape Letters. The trilogy is very sci-fi... in the Chronicles Of Narnia sense. The Screwtape Letters is a fanciful story of a young demon writing letters to his uncle asking for advice on how to corrupt the people he is supposed to corrupt and lure them into sin. His uncle's letters back to him are very insightful and often amusing. C.S. Lewis was a great writer!

I tried to read out of the silent planet, but I couldn't understand it. It was as if there was no story

I'm about halfway through The Chronicles right now. I know that it's all a big allegory, but I like that you can just read it as a story... which is what I do.

Plus... I always wanted to be Lucy when I was little. What little girl didn't? :P

I'm so freaking lame. I read to enjoy..i'm never looking for the messages and meanings

In the beginning I too read to enjoy until I got the book 'The Heart of the chronicles of Narnia' It explained a lot of the parrallels in the books with that of the Bible

I can see them... I'd just rather not sometimes. If I were reading it for the allusions, I'd get bored pretty quickly, I think. (I mean, that's what I have to do with all the stuff I'm reading for school! :P) I'm just not really into that kind of stuff, myself.

Well, it's been a long time since I read it, and I don't remember much of the story. I only remember that I loved it, mostly for the visual sense that it gave me. The second book, Perelandra, was so psychedelic! After reading it, I got a fellow student who was an artist, to make a poster of me on a surf board on a psychedelic sea with magic markers. The first book, Out Of The Silent Planet, inspired a drama I wrote for a college class. In Out Of The Silent Planet, I remember that this scientist goes to another planet, but I no longer remember all the little details. I need to read it again.
