The Enigma of Atlantis(YTeen)

It was a normal and uneventful day for Jenny Peterson. She was one of the best archeologist that was commissioned to join a search for the elusive Atlantis. While the divers were making ready for the decent into the murky waters , she was just standing on the deck looking out towards the horizon. Suddenly, she heard the voices, at first they were unintelligible. She was still deep in thought when one of her colleagues came up to her with the recent oceanic charts. With the look on his face, it was like a child on Christmas morning,
“Dr. Peterson we found something that I think you’ll find quite interesting,” he placed the object into her palm and for the first time she had evidence of intelligent life beyond theirs in her hands. As she looked at the object it looked insignificant, but on closer inspection she found that it wasn’t. It was a pearl ring, encrusted with diamonds. As she held the object in her hands, she heard the voices again, this time it was more audible than before.
“Jenny, you are the last of the Zeenebians also known as the Atlantians. We know that this must come as a shock to you, but somehow we had to tell you about your true origins. As soon as the next full moon arrive you must stand on the deck of this ship. We will then tell you, your and our story”.
When the voices stopped she couldn’t face her friends on the ship, so she went to her cabin. As she looked at the calendar she noticed that the next full moon was that very night. So as soon as the sun went down that evening, she stood on the deck waiting for an explanation.
While she stood there, she held the ring and took a more extensive look at it. Suddenly the diamonds around the pearl started to give a faint glow,. As she stood there trance fixed, it was revealed to her that she was an alien.


When she came to her senses she couldn’t describe what happened, all she knew was that her parents abandoned her and just disappear into thin air. She clutched the ring in her right hand as tightly as she could, but she still couldn’t understand why she had to suffer the way she did. It was like they planned her fate for her, as the anger grew she shouted,
“You just couldn’t wait to get rid of me, could you!”

She sat there and cried, she always thought that she didn’t belong here and now that she knew where she came from she understood that she always felt that way. A few minutes went by and still she sat there with the only remains of her true past, then suddenly she heard someone behind her. She turned around and a figure she didn’t recognize, then it struck her. This person was present in her flashback. It was her father,
“Father, why did you do it to me, and where is everybody?”
“Dzanae, let me explain something to you…after you were placed into the pod and sealed in we went back towards the stars, because something happened. The continent that was our home for so long was destroyed. It was due to this that we placed you in Delta Sleep so that someday we can come back to you”
After the conversation with her father she asked him,
“When will I see you again…and how is mother and my brother?”
“You’ll see us soon enough just wait, your mother sends her your love and your brother…well, he died a few years ago. I am sorry, I know that you and he was close”
She was grief-stricken by the knowledge that she will never see her brother. For a while she tried to tell him everything that happened to her in her life in this century, but she couldn’t bare to see the pain in his eyes, so she told him,
“I’ll wait for the day when you come back for me. I’ll even count the days if I have to” so he left her and she walked back to her cabin.
For days to come she just minded her own business and told everybody that she didn’t feel like she wanted to party, the reason she gave them was that she wanted to complete her reports on the relic they found. While she sat there with the ring in her hands she knew that she had to tell them the truth of who and what she was. She just didn’t have the strength. For a while she pondered the idea of exposing herself to the group, but she decided that it was too risky to do. She sat by her desk just looking at the ring in her hands. She was angered by the thought that her parents took so long to contact her. If they knew that she almost didn’t make it on this trip…they should have thought harder about her feelings, but probably they didn’t even think about it at all.

A week went by and still she hadn’t heard from her family, maybe it was just part of her imagination, but it can’t be. She really did see him with her own eyes. Her report on the lost city of Atlantis was nearly completed and she knew that the time to brood on what might or might not have happened was over. She knew that her planet was destroyed by an enemy of theirs.. Again she heard her father’s voice,
“Dzanae, we all thought that Zeenebe was destroyed by a comet, but a few months before we contacted you we learned the truth. Our greatest enemy destroyed it. We don’t know if they did it for target practice or did they have a reason. All we knew was that something went wrong. It was the same as our home on Earth. It too was destroyed, we just don’t know if it was due to the fact that we were there or not. That is why we waited so long to contact you”
She cleared her mind and told them that they just left her without even knowing what she went through. His reaction was that they always knew what happened in her life, they just couldn’t reveal it to her for a long time.

She inspected the ring they found and asked him about its origin. She was told that it was her inheritance. It was it that led her to them. He also told her that she must be careful.
Jenny was sitting in her cabin, just deep in thought about what happened to her on that trip. She couldn’t understand most of the visions she saw, but she knew that they were important to her. The captain of the ship came up to her and said,
“Dr, we are docking in a few days. Is there anything that needed to be finished before we do?”
“Thank you captain, but everything is done” she replied

She sat by her desk and peered outside at the ocean and thought that this might be her last time on Earth. She had a feeling that someone was coming for her, it might be friend…it might be foe. The ship sailed on and no one knew where they were heading, because in all the confusion they got lost. While they drifted in the middle of the ocean she saw how death came and claimed all of her friends. At last she was the only one left standing. For about what it felt like years went by and she stood there on the deck burying the last one of her friends. It was her fate to be left alone. As she stood there she looked up into the sky and saw it, it was a ship. At first she thought that it was her family, I waved to them hoping that they would rescue her from this death ship. As they descended they took her aboard their ship, but when she looked closely she didn’t see her father, but a stranger,
“Who are you?” she asked
“I am known as Esated and you are on my ship”
“Where are you taking me?”
“You’ll find out soon enough” he replied
He took her to a room and said that she must stay there until he told her to leave. She didn’t have a choice , but to stay there, luckily she could use her powers to find out more about the ship where she was now. She placed herself in a trance and channeled her thought to the captain of the ship, it was then that she heard the devastating news,
“Commander, we got Dzanae, the crown-princess of Zeenebe and we are waiting for further instructions from you”
“Good work captain, we’ll meet you at our rendezvous point then we will take her of your capable hands.”
So now she knew that they are Azeb and they were after her powers and they won’t rest until it was drained from her. She couldn’t let it happen not now that she found her family at last! She waited for them to come to her, she was going to destroy them before they destroy her. She waited for approximately half an hour before she even got to see them again after they captured her. Suddenly she heard the door open and she saw the captain standing before her,
“So captain, you were planning to send me to the Azeb headquarters to let them drain me of my powers, but let me tell you something I won’t let anybody use me as a pawn”
He didn’t say much, but with the few words he did say she knew that it wouldn’t take long before they enter the docking bay of the enemy. She still couldn’t understand why they must use this against her, because she did nothing to deserve this. Maybe she woke up in the wrong century if she didn’t they would have never found her and she could have never see her family. The only solution she could think off was it she send a telepathic message to her father and maybe he would help me out of this dilemma. She closed her eyes and relaxed her body, then she saw her father before her,
“Father, I need your help. I have been abducted by the Azeb, they said that they will use the most dangerous method on me to get my powers in their hands. What must I do?”
Her father looked at her and said,
“Wait there, I will contact you again”


Dzanae looked at her captor and saw that they were serious about the whole plan to destroy her family if she could just ask them why she would appreciate it,
“Excuse me, captain, but why do you have a vendetta against my family and my home-world?”
“Well, we were send by the Elders to correct an error. But before we could correct it we learnt that the Zeneebians left their planet for good and we knew that to alter the future of a planet was against the rules. So we destroyed your planet. What we didn’t know was that the planet you chose as your new haven. Again we were late to avert the new danger and we had to wait until you awoke from Delta Sleep”
“So you never wanted to kill me?”
“No, we only said it so that your family would follow us, because they must be preset when you get your new powers”
She wanted to ask more about her home-world, but they weren’t part of the destruction team, another party was responsible for it.

A few weeks later the captain said to her that they were nearby and she must make herself ready for hyper space, that evening she got the last part of her past revealed to her. While she slept she saw a planet similar to Earth and she saw her mother and all those she couldn’t remember. The emotions was that they all would be missed and someday she will receive her powers.
When she woke she knew that she was in good hands and that there is nothing for her to worry about. The next day went by so fast and when she came to her senses she stood next to the captain, then she asked,
“Captain, where are we?”
“Dzanae the planet you see on the screen is where the Elders of Zeenebians live on. In a few minutes we will decent onto the ground and you will understand everything that went on for the past thousand years”
She felt the boosters and saw the ‘earth’ was coming faster and faster, the next minute she stepped outside the captain told her to wait on the ship while he talked to the Elders. Meanwhile, her parents were on their way to ‘rescue’ her. If only they knew what was really happening to her at this moment they needn’t be so worried about her fate.

The captain approached the Elders and stated the situation,
“Sir, we got her just as we promised we would and her parents is on their way, but she is really confused about what is happening”

The Elders looked at him and said,
“You can let her come out now, it is time for her final power to be revealed to her”
The captain came up to her and said that she could come down, when she stepped outside she saw how the ship with her parents in it touched down and they stepped out and walked towards her,
“Dzanae, are you okay?” they asked
“Yes, I was just about to find out what is really happening to me so I am glad to see you guys here” with that she hugged them.
She could see in the corner of her eyes one of the Elders approach them, as her father looked into the direction her eyes were in he got a shock,
“Kurdox we are glad you returned to us. Now you can witness the final transference of Dzanae’s powers”
Her father looked at the one who spoke and then asked what powers are they talking about?
The man looked at her father and said,
“She already have psychic power now this is more complicated than all of it combined”
She wanted to ask more compelling questions, but she knew that it wasn’t her place to do so, so she kept her mouth shut. Her father asked the question she wanted to asked
“Father, what is this power you want to bestow onto my daughter…if I may ask”
“Well, this power is one of teleportation and time-hopping. It will allow her to change a planet’s future or past. All that she can’t do is change the fate of the Earth. What happened there was suppose to happen. She may do what she pleased with that powers”.
Dzanae looked at the group and said with her head held high,
“I am not planning to change any planet’s fate. I believe that what happens, happens for a reason.”
After her revelation she took the liberty to keep her loyalty towards them and that is where she was going to keep it. Now she is loyal towards two societies and that was Zeenbe and Earth.

They never found out the truth about the species that was trying to kill her family, and maybe it was a good thing that they didn’t found it out. They night she slept peacefully.

Very nice! Interesting that she is now a part of two civilizations. Was that the complete story or is there more to it?
