Chapter 6 Road Trip Continued…………..
“Zan let me drive”, whined Serena.
“No last time you drove yous almost hit a truck”, said Zan.
Serena rolled her eyes at this.
“It came out of nowhere I swear”, answered Serena.
“No Serena the puppy dog eye things you do aint workin”, said Zan smirking.
“Please pretty please with a cherry on top”, said Serena batting her eyes and pouting her lips.
“NO ways, you will get us killed, noway, promised pop ducks I’s take care of use”, said Zan.
Serena pouted and crossed her hands over her chest.
“That aint gonna work Rena, you drive like a crazy bum from NY if hes got a car”, said Zan smirking.
“NO that isn’t true, don’t you trust Zan, don’t you trust me?”, asked Serena looking into his eyes.
She could get lost in those eyes. Stop it Serena he is not for you. I know I promised that I would keep an open mind about this but Zan is with Ava. I wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to knock on my ass for stealing her man.
“Not gonna happen sweets, you and car not gonna mix again”, said Zan.
“Such a jerk”, mumbled Serena.
Zan laughed out loud at her pouting face. He thought she was so adorable.
“Are my sisters still following you?”, asked Serena sifting in her seat.
“Yeahs they is, Devona is crazy like use with the drivin”, said Zan.
“Very funny Zanny”, said Serena sticking out her tongue.
She let out a gasp holding onto her head in pain.
“Rena, what’s the matter, Rena can you hear me”, said Zan but he only sounded far away to her.
“Come help Liz, she needs you”, said the voice in her head.
The voice sounded weak but Serena could hear it clearly in her mind.
“She is in Roswell, come quick, danger please”, whispered the voice before fading out in the background.
She felt someone shaking her and she opened her eyes to see her sisters and Zan looking panicked.
“Thank God you are awake, shit Serena you scared us”, said Diana.
She brushed her short her back from her face. Even though her and Devona were twins they wanted to be seen as individuals, they looked similar but not exactly identical, and Diana cut her hair shorter than Devona.
“Sorry, shit my head hurts”, said Serena trying to get up from the passenger seat but Zan wasn’t having it so he lifted her up in his arms making her gasp at the contact.
“Zan put me down”, said Serena trying to glare at him.
“Not gonna happen baby, use fainted back there, what happen?”, asked Zan looking into her eyes wishing he could kiss her but he knew that she still felt like she was betraying Ava which in his mind was just stupid since him and Ava were never together like that in the first place.
He told Ava that he could never be what she wanted because he just wasn’t in love her. Don’t get him wrong he had love for her, she was fam after all but he just didn’t feel anything like how he felt about Serena.
“It’s like an SOS or something, I’m not sure it’s coming form Liz but the ovice said that Liz was in trouble and I had to come to Roswell quick, I know it’s not form Liz this time because the voice said Liz needed help not I need help”, said Serena from Zan’s arms that was now sitting in her place in the passenger’s seat with her on his lap.
Devona looked in deep thought.
“Who do you think the voice is?”, asked Diana reading her twin’s mind.
“I don’t know but whoever it is seems to think that if I don’t get there that Liz will get hurt, I can’t le that happen, she might not know that I’m her sister but that doesn’t mean that I don’t’ have a responsibility to take care of, she is my family as well as you two”, said Serena trying to make them understand.
“We know that sis, she is out sis too you know, she is family”, said Devona.
Serena nodded her head at her sisters and looked at Zan that hadn’t said a word.
“What Zan, what’s wrong?”, asked Serena.
“What if it’s someone bad or sumpthin, I means what if Liz aint in trouble, and wes working into some trap or sumpthin?”, asked Zan looking at the girls in front of him.
He had promised Serena’s father that he would take care of them as soon as he called knowing that Devona and Diana followed them. He gave his word, and his word was truth. He never backed out of anything in his life especially something as important as protecting Serena and her sisters.
“NO Zan I know she is in trouble way before the voice came to me, I don’t know its like I have this connection to her, which is weird, I mean I know we are sisters but it’s so strong. I don’t understand it since we have never met before”, said Serena.
“Aight, then let’s go then, but it’s late to be drivin, let’s get a motel then head out tomorrow”, suggest Zan.
Everyone nodded their heads and the girls walked back to their car. Serena was about to get up when Zan pulled her down into his lap.
“Rena, you sure?”, asked Zan.
“Yeah I am, she needs me Zan, I know she does, she has been calling for me, long before the voices in my head appeared, I need to be there for her”, said Serena.
Zan nodded his head, he knew this was something that she had to do, he wasn’t going to stand in her way. Zan nuzzled his nose into her neck making her gasp out in pleasure.
“Zan we can’t do this”, whispered Serena closing her eyes in delight.
“Why not, Rena look at me”, said Zan shifting her to face him.
“I want you to be my girl, my only girl, whys you acting like you not wanting me too?”, asked Zan.
“I do but what about Ava what about that Zan?”, asked Serena.
“Ava is just family that’s all, she can never be yous, yous my girl in hear already”, said Zna pointing to his heart.
Serena sighed and leaned into his chest.
“I want to be with you so much, but I know what its like to have your heart broken Zan and Ava’s will be, I wouldn’t wish that on her she”, said Serena.
“She deserves more than what I could give, her Rena, use knows that, I only wants yous”, said Zan.
Serena sighed once more and kissed his cheeks.
“Give me time Zan please, I just need time”, said Serena.
Zan sighed rubbing his hands through his spiky hair and then rubbing his chin and the little hair he had left there since he shaved this morning.
“Aight we plays it your ways, but I’s aint gonna give up you dig”, said Zan.
“I dig”, whispered Serena giggling.
“I love your NY accent, its cute”, said Serena giggling at his expression.
“I’s not cute, Rena, I’s a bad man, da man”,. said Zan smirking.
Serena just laughed at that.
“Well Da Man get us to the room, so’s me the woman can get some sleep”, said Serena.
Zan glared at her before licking her neck making her gasp.
“Yous said I had to give you time, didn’t say was gonna make it easy”, said Zan placing her in the passenger seat and walking to his side of the car. Serena sat in silence the whole way there.

“Yo’s where’s my tip”, yelled a small girl with pink and black hair.
“Alight little missy, I’ll give you a tip”, said the bartender smirking.
“Charlie, please I’s not want that kinda tip, hand over mys money”, said the girl.
“Ava you hurt me”, replied Charlie.
Ava giggled at that. She had moved around a lot since leaving Roswell and Liz. She smiled at that thought. Liz was a good friend. She let stay even though she could feel uncomfortable since she looked like Tess.
Ava’s POV
I don’t trust Tess. I know that she is hiding something. I just should have warned Liz. Why didn’t I. Oh well. God, my life is just, I don’t know. I miss Zan. He was the love of my life or so I thought. I talke to Charlie and he broke it down for me. I hate to admit it but Charlie was right. I wasn’t in love with Zna, I was just in love with his idea. I thought I was supposed to. Shit man that feels good to finally get that out. I mean its relief you know because here I get to be Ava just plain, Ava waitress without this stupid destiny or whatever. I miss Zan though. He was the first friend I ever had before the protector came talking about destiny. I was so stupid and I brought into it. I wish I hadn’t. I wish we didn’t. Lonnie and Rath they brought into it and killed Zna because of it. Those sick bastards but to say I’m surprised would be a lie. I knew they would be capable of something like that. Zna never brought into it. He was a big believer of following one’s own destiny. He only played the king card with Rath to keep him in line. I miss my friend. I wish he was here.
“Ava?”, asked a voice behind her.
Ava gasped and held onto the counter to hold her balance.
“Zan?”, asked Ava.
Zan smiled slowly and hugged her tightly.
“Aves”, whispered Zan.
Ava shut her eyes and tears slipped from the corners of it.
“How?”,, asked Ava chocked up on her tears.
It seemed to be the only thing that she was capable of saying.
“That would be our sister”, said Diana looking at the small girl in front of her.
She tried not to glare but she didn’t want this Ava person to think that she could hurt her sister or anything like that. Diane looked over her shoulders seeing Serena and Devona making their way towards them. Serena looked up and stopped in her tracks making Devona run into her back.
“Sis what’s up”, asked Devona and shifted her eyes to were Devona saw that Serena was looking.
When she looked into her sisters face what she saw there made her hurt break. Serena looked ready to bolt, there was nothing but anguish on her face.
“Ava”, mumbled out Serena.
Devona whipped her face around to look at the girl. Serena felt tears come to her eyes. She had no right to feel this way but her heart was breaking. Just know that Ava was there, that Zan was standing next to her made Serena’s heart break. Serena shifted her body around to avoid looking at the sight in front of her and also to regain her composure so they wouldn’t see her tears. Devona looked shocked because Serena was always this strong person and she had never ever seen Serena cry. She just dusted herself off when something bad happened and sucked it up and just by seeing this girl Serena broke. Devona smiled. She knew why. Serena was in love with Zan, she always had been but Devona never knew how much until this very moment.
“Hey, Rena”, called out Zan looking at in her direction.
He felt her emotions shifted. He felt her discomfort and her sadness. He swallowed at the hurt he felt from her. Why didn’t she understand that he and Ava could never be what they were. Serena walked slowly towards them, preparing herself for this moment. Serena gave a little smile reaching them. She felt herself being yanked towards Zan and he froze when he entwined his fingers with her brining them up to his lips to kiss her palm. Serena looked at Ava awaiting her anger, but all Serena saw there was acceptance. Serena didn’t understand. Ava looked at the girl’s panicked expression and almost laughed.
“I know, yous his love”, said Ava in reply. She knew this day would come. She knew that she had to accept the fact that she was not Zan’s love and that this woman in front of him was going to be with him forever and ever.
“I thought you would be mad, I, me and Zan we didn’t do anything, I just couldn’t knowing you and him were involved”, said Serena trying to remove her hands from his but Zan held them tighter.
“I’m not mad, he’s always told me that he could love me like that, I knows for a while, but I finally accepted it when I thought he dies yous knows, I knows I have to live for me and not for some destiny”, said Ava.
“I always knew he was waiting for someone, and I think he found it”, said Ava smiling.
She sighed in relief it was good to let that out in the open. It was time to let go of the past and live in the future.
“So you okay with me and Zan?”, asked Serena looking at her with a hopeful expression on her face.
“Yeahs as long as you make him happy”, said Ava walking up to the girl and giving her a hug.
“Take care of him for me”, said Ava trying to keep her tears at bay. She knew that she said she accepted it but it was still hard for her to let go.
Serena nodded her head and looked at her sisters that were smirking.
“So what’s yalls doing heres it’s far from the Appple”, said Ava looking at them. Serena pulled up chair and explained where they were going.
“Damn I knows that bitch aint to be trusted, shit should have told Liz”, said Ava.
“You know Liz?”, asked Serena.
“Can you tell me about her”, asked Serena looking at the girl. “Why?”, asked Ava.
“She’s my sister”, said Serena.
Serena explained everything.
“Oh god, she don’t knows”, asked Ava.
Serena shook her head negatively. Ava shook her head.
“What yous gonna do about yous moms?”, asked Ava.
“She is not my mother”, said Serena snapping.
“Aight, Aight she aight yours moms, I get it”, said Ava.
“Sorry”, said Serena.
Zan rubbed her shoulders trying to get her to calm down. “I need a drink”, said Serena.
“Let me have a screwdriver”, said Serena.
“Are you sure about this Rena?”, asked Zan.
“Yes, Let me have this Zan, need to relax”, said Serena.
“And booze is the way to do it?”, asked Zan getting angry.
“Don’t tell me what to do”, said Serena drowning the drink.
“Rena, please”, said Zan.
“Serena don’t”, said Devona taking the drink from her.
“Devona give me back my drink”, yelled Serena.
“No, I’m not and you know why”, said Devona.
Diana came up behind her and looked at Serena and the drink.
“You knew what happened last time, why are fucking drinking”, yelled Diana. “It was one drink”, said Serena.
“That’s all it takes”, said Devona.
Zan and Ava looked at them in confusion.
“Tell them why you shouldn’t drink”, said Devona.
“Shut up”, yelled Serena getting up from her seat to walk out but Zan grabbed her arm.
“Zan let go”, yelled Serena.
“No, aight letting you leave, tell me”, said Zan looking at the twins.
“She had a drinking problem”, said Devona.
“Shut up, Devona mind you damn business”, yelled Serena trying to get out of Zan’s arm but he kept her anchored.
“She drinks every
time she was depressed and that happened when she was thinking about her birth mother”, said Diana ignored Serena.
She hated seeing her sister like this. She was such an angry drunk. She always scared them.
“Serena”, said Ava.
“Its aight”, said Ava trying not to look like she was pitying her.
“You don’t know me”, said Serena.
“No I don’t but I want to”, said Ava looking at the girl with a sincere look.
Serena looked at them trying to calm down.
“It was one drink”, said Serena looking at the girls.
“Its one too many, I don’t want you to hurt yourself again”, said Devona.
“I know I just hate her, she left me she abandoned me”, said Serena in a monotone.
Devona and Diana nodded their heads understanding because their mother did the same thing to them.
“Look let’s get out of this bad mood aight, Charlie let’s do it”, said Ava smirking.
“DO what?”, , asked Zan.
“Sing”, giggled Ava.
“Can I?”, asked Serena feeling shy.
Ava looked at her and nodded her.
“Which song do you want to sing?”, asked Ava.
“It’s my song, I wrote it, I write music”, answered Serena.
Zan smiled at her. He remembered her seating in the motel room night after night writing music. She would cry a little sometimes. He knew that music was something that helped her ease the pain. He knew it helped free the demons.
“Aight, give me a minute”, said Ava.
“Devona can you get my guitar”, said Serena.
Devona smiled and nodded her head.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, you know how we want the new up and coming to shine, so we want to introduce a new comer, her name is Serena Coles, give it up”, said Charlie.
Serena walked over to the make shift stage and sat on the chair. “Hi all, my name is Serena, and well I wrote this song a while ago, I was in a bad place and I wanted to get it out there, so I wouldn’t feel the pain anymore. SO I hope you like it”, said Serena.
She plucked the guitar looking down trying to concentrate.
Serena looked up to see Zan looking directly at her. She smiled and looked down at her guitar once more.

“Wow this sounds so good, she could get a record deal”, said Charlie. Devona and Diana nodded their heads. They looked over at Zan that just couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. Serena was holding the guitar like it was lifeline, staring directly into his eyes and concentrating only on him.

”I want to goes with yalls, I need to help Liz too, she was a friend”, said Ava. Devona and Diana nodded their head. “Its going to come to a head you know, when she meets her mother, Serena may act tough but this is going to kill her”, said Diana. Ava looked at the girl that was staring at her ex with such love. The way she held the guitar in her arms like she was holding the most precious gem in the world, made her sigh. She hoped that Serena wouldn’t break because the little she did see of Serena she knew that her issues with her mother was going to be the end all and be all of fights.

”Look at them, he loves her so much”, whispered Devona. “He does”, said Ava. “Its doesn’t bother you?”, asked Diana. “I’m not going to lie and say it doesn’t cuz it does, I loved Zan and even though he never felt the same I always hoped he would”, said Ava. “But now I know that aint gonna happen, he found his half, I hafta find mines”, said Ava.

Ava looking at her in confusion.
“You know something”, whispered Diana.
“Oh yeah”, giggled Devona at her twin before whispering in her ear.
Diana giggled too.
“Oh this is going to be great”, said Diana.
Devona nodded her head, and clapped and cheered when Serena finished her song. She clapped harder when Zan walked to the stage and lifted her and kissed her soudly on the mouth taking her breath away.
“Oh yeah baby”, yelled Devona.
“Get your man”, yelled Diana.
Serena looked up and blushed.
“Um yous my girl now?”, asked Zan.
“I’m your girl”, said Serena sealing the deal with a kiss.
She knew this was only the beginning.

“Who are you”, asked Tess once more trying understand why these people were here.
“Your executioner”, answered Devona stepping up.
“What do you think we should do to her”, asked Devona.
“I say kill her” said Diana. “I’m wit that, the bitch got to die”, said Ava.
Zan just shook his head at the four girls. Being the only male on this trip of theirs was exhausting. He knew they could be scary when they wanted to be.
“Nah I say gut her”, said Serena stepping up closer to Tess.
Tess actually cringed at the look on Serena’s face. She looked like a caged animal. Serena growled in her face closing in on Tess. She walked around her.
“I smell fear, and I smell prey”, said Serena. Serena looked down and smirked.
“Do you pee on yourself”, asked Serena looking at the wet stop on the floor.
Everyone in the room was staring at the girl. Michael looked and smirked. Whoever this girl was he liked her. Maria was just staring at the girl trying to understand what the hell was going on.
“You messed with Liz and fucked with my man’s life, I know about the hit you had out on Zan’s head, you fucked with my man, and my fam that means my little pet, its time for dinner, and trust me when I say I don’t need a fork and knife, I’ll skin you alive”, growled Serena sniffing her again.
Tess actually shivered out in fear at that.
“You don’t scare me, you are just a human, waste of space”, said Tess sneered.
“Oh little kitten, you don’t know do you?”, asked Serena.
Serena grabbed her face making her face her and licked her face. Her violet eyes blazing with anger.
“Humanity is your only salvation”, said Serena.
“Came? How did you know we were coming?”, Devona looking into Liz’s eyes finally remembering what Liz had said when they walked into the room.
“Serena told me in the visions”, answered Liz.
“Liz I never sent you a vision, I don’t know how”, said Serena looking at her confused once she shifted her attention from Tess.
“But then how”, asked Liz.
“Maybe I can answer that”, said a voice behind them.
Everyone shifted their attentions towards the door gaping at the person.
“Mom”, whispered Liz.
“Liz”, said Nancy and then shifted her attention to the other girl that she knew was her daughter.
“Serena”, said Nancy.
Serena stood up straight and looked her directly in the eye.
“Mom”, said Serena.
“Shit”, said Zan when he looked back and saw everyone staring slack jawed at Nancy and Liz fainting into Max’s arms. Max looked at Nancy Parker and knew this explanation was going to be a long one.

The connection between Liz and Serena took me by surprise, though I guess I should have seen it. That was great! And Serena's conversation with Zan in his mind as he was dying back in the first part really stuck in my mind. :D I loved it! I love your banners, too, the first one especially! But there are several really great ones. :D I hope you post more to this story soon!
