I think it's awesome that we have Doctor Who on the board now!
I can't say that I've seen very many Doctor Who episodes (and there are a lot of them!), but the ones I did see were fantastic! That was a great Sci-Fi show on the BBC for like forever! I look forward to reading some of these fics!

Hello! I'm ponygirl72, here via the Author Auction.
I live in central Missouri with my husband, three dogs, and seven horses. Despite being a Doctor Who fan since the age of 12 or so, I'm happy to say that I've gone on to lead a more-or-less normal life. My invisible friends will confirm this fact.
Island Breeze, the show is great fun, as is the fic. If you'd like to dip your toe in, I'd suggest tracking down the first series of the 2005 "New" Doctor Who-- when the show was resurrected after a 16 year hiatus. For the new show, a knowledge of all the decades-old backstory is not necessary, since they were launching it for a whole new audience. The first season stars Christopher Eccleston; after that, David Tennant took the reins. Both are exceptional actors.

Woohoo, Doctor Who forum!
I've been watching Doctor Who since I was about six years old. I'm not going to pretend to have grown up normal. I'm a huge nerd. I have more friends online than off, have actually gone to conventions, and (gasp!) write fanfiction of a show about a scientist from another planet who travels in time.
And also, occasionally, of videogames. Which I'm into as well, in keeping with the whole nerd thing.

'Ello, I'm Rachel, here via the Auction. Can't boast being a fan for many years, and my knowledge of Classic Who is shamefully limited, but I'm quite addicted as the rest of you, I should think. ^^
Other than that...I'm studying creative writing, dabble in fanfiction, and have more animals in my household than I can stricly keep an eye on at one time.
...I also ship. A lot.

It's like when you're a kid. The first time they tell you that the Earth's turning and you just can't believe it because everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it: the turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour. And the entire planet is hurtling around the sun at 67,000 thousand miles an hour and I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me. Clinging to the skin of this tiny little world and if we let go... that's who I am.

So, er, where do newbie questions go? I want to ask what your rules about sigs are, and if there's a chat room I ought to be idling in, and if it's considered annoying for me to post a new fic here if it's also on my LJ and an LJ comm and in one or more Who fic archives. Y'know, hypothetically.

Re: Stop by and introduce yourself
Hi! Let me answer your last question first. We would love to have you post your fics here no matter where else you have them posted! New, old, or whatever, they're all welcome. The basic rule on signatures and pics is that they should not distort the board. A width of 550 pixels is generally considered to be the max before the board will start to distort. If you've ever had to move the page back and forth to read a story you'll know what I mean. It's because there's a pic over 550 or a long string of numbers, symbols, or letters like Aaaaaaargh stretched out so far that the page has to be moved back and forth to read it, which annoys people. For other rules, see "Board Guidelines" under "The Important Stuff" near the top of the home page. There aren't too many rules, just a few basics to keep us legal and keep everyone happy. I look forward to reading your stories!

*waves*
I'm Anne, I'm here via the author auction, and really, I was in Roswell fandom back in the day too, so I was aware of this board before the auction
I'm very much a New Who fan. Converted by my best friends and hooked beyond imagination - it's like CRACK, I tell you! And I love it! I've tried to watch some Classic Who, but it doesn't quite do it for me on the same level.
I don't write fic much anymore, but I've got a few one-shots I might pull out for the board!
I recognize some of y'all's names from LJ, and look forward to seeing you around here!

Re: Stop by and introduce yourself
Hello! DameRuth, here from the auction. I'm American, live in the northwestern US, and have been a fan since I was 13 in 1983. I love Classic and NuWho both, but usually write NuWho since those plotlines and characters are fresher in my mind. DW's pretty my only writing fandom at the moment, though I've written Firefly and Quantum Leap fic before, and did a "Blake's 7"-based comic strip for a while. I write a range of stuff -- all ratings; sometimes canon-compliant, sometimes wildly AU, sometimes pure crack; and gen, het or slash as the mood takes me.
Thanks for making us this forum! I'm glad my fandom could help make a difference (not that I can take credit for anyone's actions but my own, of course . . .).
The icon/avatar in this post is one I made up myself, BTW; it's freely gankable by anyone who wants it.

People can steal my avatar, too. I've already posted this one elsewhere for people to grab anyway.
So seriously, people call cookies biscuits? "Chocolate chip oatmeal biscuits"?
