Here is the drabble Antosha won from me. It's a crossover.
Vanes
A 90th birthday party, thought Harriet, is the sort of experience designed to make you wish you'd died earlier. It had nothing to do with her; the Duke, at 75, was inviting the assembly to go skydiving. She imagined what Peter would say, and that made it worse.
One girl, great-granddaughter of her cousin Virgil, skirted the party as if from the other side of a wire fence. Harriet thought she recognized the look.
"Tell me, Romilda," Harriet asked in a near-whisper. "Are you a writer?"
"No, a witch," said the girl with a straight face.
"Is there a difference?"

that was cute...I wish I knew more about the fandom so I could comment better
It all started with a boy, a girl, and a silver handprint.

Well, there are three relevant things that will make it more meaningful:majiklmoon wrote:that was cute...I wish I knew more about the fandom so I could comment better
1. Harriet Vane, born 1902, married Lord Peter Wimsey; she was a mystery writer.
2. Romilda Vane, born 1981, was a student at Hogwarts who had a major crush on Harry Potter.
3. Viscount St. George, born c.a. 1917, who would have been the Duke of Denver by 1992, was Lord Peter Wimsey's nephew, and something of a wild, irresponsible fellow.
Since we knew that Rowling was an avid reader of Sayres, Antosha and I had long discussed the possibility that Romilda and Harriet might be related. When he won the auction he asked me to put my money where my mouth was and write it.
