Summary: Nat's 9th birthday at her school is interrupted by a ghost of her best friend, Lilly. Melinda is still trying to get Jim to go into the light.
Chapter 1 Nat's Birthday
At Grandview Elementary School in Ms. Waston's classroom after lunch, Natalie sat down at her desk and said, "Hello Ms. Waston."
Ms. Waston said kindly, "Today is Nat's birthday. Nat has brought cupcakes." Everyone sung Happy Birthday to Nat.
Nat said happily, "Thank you."
A ghost of a burned 9 year old girl, Lilly said kindly, "Hey Nat."
Nat said happily, "Hey Lilly. It is my 9th birthday."
Lilly said happily, "Happy Birthday, Nat."
The mean boy, Eddie yelled, "YOU ARE A FREAK, NATALIE!"
Nat said sadly, "I want to go home."
Tricia came in and said calmly, "Nat, we're going to Mel's for the weekend."
Nat cried and said, "Okay." They walked to her mom's car and drove to Melinda's house.
Melinda said kindly as she answered, "Hi Tricia and Nat." They went inside to the living room and sat down on the couch.
Nat said crying, "Hi Mel."
Melinda said kindly, "Happy Birthday, Nat."
Nat said sadly, "Thanks. I'm going to go draw a picture in the kitchen." She walked into the kitchen.
Melinda asked concerned, "Tricia, what is wrong with Nat?"
Tricia replied, "I think she saw her best friend, Lilly who died in a fire."
Melinda said kindly, "I could try talking to her." She went into the kitchen.
Nat saw Jim and said sadly, "Hi Jim."
Jim asked kindly, "What's wrong, Nat?"
Nat replied sadly, "Jim, Eddie called me a freak because I saw my best friend, Lilly who died in a fire at her house."
Jim said kindly, "Nat, you are special girl not a freak.
Nat smiled and said, "Thanks. Hi Mel."
Melinda asked kindly, "Nat, are you feeling better?"
Nat said kindly, "Yes. I'm starved."
Melinda said kindly, "I'll make some sandwiches. What happened at school?"
Nat explained, "I saw Lilly at school, and Eddie called me a freak."
Melinda asked, "Do you see Jim?"
Nat replied kindly, "Yes, he is right here."
Melinda said, "I see him. He died nine months ago when a police officer accidentally shot him."
Nat said amazed, "He's a ghost."
Melinda explained, "Yes, he is an earthbound spirit like Lilly is. They will crossover to the light once we help them."
Nat smiled and said, "Like we both helped Owen."
Tricia came into the kitchen for dinner and asked, "Nat, are you feeling better about what happened at school?"
Nat smiled and said after taking a bite of her grilled cheese sandwich, "Yes."
Lilly said kindly, "Hey Nat, want to play?"
Nat said, "Not right now, but I need to talk to you, Lilly."
Lilly said, "Okay."
Nat asked, "Do you remember what happened when you died?"
Lilly explained, "I remember a fight between us, my twin sister, Rose, and Eddie, and then my bedroom went up in smoke." She vanished.
Tricia said kindly, "Nat, time for bed." Tricia took her upstairs to the study.
Nat said tiredly, "Goodnight, Mommy." She fell asleep on the couch.
Tricia went downstairs to the living room where Melinda was watching TV and said kindly, "Mel, you should get some sleep."
Melinda said sadly, "I can't sleep without having nightmares about Jim. Sometimes he is alive in my dreams and other times he is a ghost."
Tricia said calmly, "I had dreams like that for an year after my husband's death because I felt like it was my fault. I realized that he was very sick, and there was nothing for me to do about what happened. I still miss him; that will never go away. What happened to Jim wasn't your fault; it was an accident caused by his friend shooting him."
Melinda said, "Goodnight, Tricia." She went upstairs to her room while Tricia went into the guest room.

Chapter 2 Surprises
Nat saw herself, Rose, Lilly, and Eddie in Lilly's bedroom in her dream.
Eddie said kindly, "I want to go to the arcade."
Lilly yelled, "WE WERE THERE YESTERDAY!"
Past Nat asked, "How about we go shopping?"
Rose replied, "I'm in with you, Nat."
Lilly yelled, "SHOPPING IS BORING RIGHT NOW!"
Eddie yelled angrily, "LET'S SEE A MOVIE!"
Lilly yelled, "NO!"
Past Nat yelled, "WE SHOULD JUST TAKE A BREAK FROM HANGING OUT!" Everyone except Lilly left.
Lilly accidentally knocked her floor lamp hitting the computer wires and said, "I was so stupid." She couldn't breath from the smoke and passed out.
Nat woke up and went downstairs to the living room. Nat said, "Hi Mel."
Melinda asked kindly, "Couldn't sleep?"
Nat explained, "I remember what happened to Lilly that day. Eddie, Rose, Lilly, and I got into a stupid fight about what to do that Friday. No one ever asked Lilly what she wanted to do. We never apologized to her."
Lilly appeared and explained, "The fire wasn't how I died. I remembered what to do in a fire and got out badly burned. A red SUV hit me when I was outside."
Melinda said sadly, "I was the one who hit you, Lilly. I'm really sorry."
Lilly said kindly, "I don't blame you, Melinda." They all heard a clopping of hooves from a horse and barking from a dog. A vase fell off a table.
Melinda asked, "Jim or Lilly, are you doing that?"
Lilly said, "I haven't touched anything."
Jim replied, "It is Homer and a ghost horse." They a saw a ghost of a gray stallion with a broken leg and leather halter and lead rope and Homer.
Melinda walked up to the horse and said kindly, "You are a beautiful boy."
Jim saw name tag on the halter and said kindly, "His name Magic; he was a rescued Arabian. His owner is Mandy Smith at the Grandview Farms."
Melinda said, "I should deal with the ghost horse." She took a taxi to the Grandview Farms and saw a fifteen year old girl with blond hair and green eyes wearing black jeans and a black t-shirt crying in the driveway. She said concerned, "Mandy, you are going to get hit by a car standing in the driveway. I'm Melinda Gordon."
Mandy said sadly as they went to a picnic bench, "That's what I want."
Melinda said calmly, "You lost Magic, your horse."
Mandy explained sadly, "Yes, he was the best horse. When he was out in the arena, his leg get caught in the fence. I was too late to save him. How did you know?"
Melinda replied kindly, "I can see earthbound spirits, and Magic is here."
Mandy said sadly, "I can feel him."
Melinda explained kindly, "Magic doesn't want you to blame yourself on what happened to him. It was an accident. I know what it's like to lose a love one, my husband, Jim. I am doing the same thing as you are doing blaming myself on what happened to him. You need to remember the good times. What was your favorite things to do with Magic?"
Mandy said with a small smile as they went into the arena, "I loved playing soccer with Magic."
Melinda said with a smile, "You can do that one more time. Close your eyes and imagine Magic there."
Mandy kicked the ball to Magic and said laughing, "Magic, push it back."
Magic pushed the ball to her and whinnied at her.
Melinda said kindly, "He's ready to crossover."
Mandy said happily, "Bye Magic. I see you in the light when I'm ready. You'll be with other horses that died from accidents like Barbaro, Eight Belles, and Teddy." Magic galloped into the light. She said kindly, "Thank you, Melinda."
Melinda said kindly, "You are welcome, Mandy." She took a cab the town square.
Nat said happily, "Hey Mel. Let's go talk to Rose, Eddie, and Samantha, Lilly's and Rose's mother." They walked over to them.
Samantha said, "Hi Nat, and you must be Tricia's friend, Melinda."
Nat said kindly, "Lilly is here.
Rose asked, "How is she here?
Melinda said, "Nat and I have a gift that allows us to see and talk to ghosts."
Eddie said amazed, "That's cool, Nat. I'm sorry for calling you a freak, yesterday, Nat."
Nat said with a smile, "I forgive you."
Lilly said kindly, "I want you three to be the best friends."
Eddie said kindly, "I'm sorry for not asking you for what to do that Friday, Lilly."
Rose said kindly, "I'm sorry for that stupid fight."
Nat said kindly, "I'm sorry for that stupid fight."
Lilly smiled and said, "I forgive you."
Melinda said kindly, "I'm sorry for what happened."
Samantha said sadly, "All this was my fault. I was the one who hit your cat. I was the one who left four nine year old children in the house alone when I went grocery shopping. "
Lilly said, "It wasn't your fault. You made one little mistake. You could of stopped this from happening by taking us with you shopping."
Melinda said kindly, "She says that it wasn't your fault. You only made one mistake. You could of stopped this from happening if you took them with you."
Samantha smiled and said, "I was pretty stupid, Lilly."
Lilly said kindly, "I love you, Mom. Is that light for me?"
Nat replied kindly, "Yes, it is."
Melinda smiled and said, "She's ready to crossover. Go ahead, Lilly. Your grandma and your dog is waiting for you."
Lilly smiled and said, "I see my grandma and Rover." She walked into the light.
Nat said kindly, "Mel and Jim, thank you for helping me. I better go to celebrate my birthday." She ran off with her two friends.
Melinda asked Jim and Homer, "What am I going to do you two?" She petted Homer.
Jim laughed and said, "I can get Homer to go into the light."
Melinda said kindly, "I don't mind Homer staying. He just won't crossover. He rather chase cars and play with dogs. You need to crossover soon."
Jim said kindly, "I know. I'm not leaving you until the baby is born."
Melinda said kindly, "Okay. Jim, there are other ways for you to help me and for our child to have a father like giving signs to someone who did something nice for you."
Jim said, "I remember saving someone from a car wreck who worked at the Grandview Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse with a therapy dog, a Great Dane. His name is Kieth Simmons." Homer ran after the Great Dane.
Melinda said, "Homer, stop."
Jim unhooked the leash from the dog and said, "Mel, I'm sorry for what I did by possessing Sam's body. I was the one who didn't want to let go."
Melinda said worriedly, "That dog is going to get hit by a car. Come here, girl." The dog ran up to her.
A man with dark brown hair and green eyes wearing blue scrubs and said kindly, "I'm sorry for my dog, Gracie running up to you."
Melinda said kindly, "I'm Melinda Gordon. It's okay; I love animals."
Kieth said kindly, "I'm Kieth Simmons."
Melinda yelled, "Ouch. It's time."
Delia said kindly, "I'll drive you to the hospital, Mel." They got into Delia's car and drove to the hospital.
The nurse asked, "How far apart are the contractions?"
Delia said, "Ten minutes."
Melinda sat down in the wheelchair and rushed into the delivery room.
Nat saw herself, Rose, Lilly, and Eddie in Lilly's bedroom in her dream.
Eddie said kindly, "I want to go to the arcade."

Re: Another Ghost Whisperer (Ghost Whisperer) TEEN
That was a neat story!!! Sad for the loss of Nat's best friend and Jim, but happy in the sense that they both (Melinda and Nat) have wonderful memories of their loved ones/friends!
