Title: False False Alarm
For: jbangelo
Pairing: Sean/Liz
Prompt: Lightbulb

************

"You're serious."

"Yes, I'm serious," Liz said, not getting the joke as Sean smirked at her. She pointed again to the hanging lamp with the dead bulb. "It's right there. I just—my parents are out of town and Alex isn't answering his phone and I just really hate ladders, alright, so will you do this for me?" she said, trying to keep her voice wheedling, but finding it difficult because she'd already told him all this on the phone and was starting to get irritated. "The step-ladder is over there," she said, pointing.

Sean snickered as he positioned the ladder, and Liz handed him a new lightbulb. "Okay, then. You really want me to change a lightbulb, I'll change a lightbulb," he said, already unscrewing the dead one.

"What is that supposed to even mean?" Liz demanded, sullenly. "Why did you think I called you over?"

Sean, blunt as always, shrugged. "I thought it was a booty call."

"A wha—" but Liz, stunned, couldn't even finish the word. She blushed hot.

Finished with his task, Sean skipped off the step ladder and held the dead bulb up to Liz as a presentation of his services, giving her a bow and saying with mock-sincerity, "My lady," all the while looking overly pleased with her blush.

She took the bulb and shoved him hard on the shoulder. "Shut up, Sean," she said, but she couldn't stop smiling, either.

Title: Arrangement
For: anniepoo
Pairing: Sean/Tess
Prompt: Balloon

************

"Woah. You are not Sheriff Valenti," Sean said, to the petite blonde who'd answered the door, as he tried unsuccessfully to hide the balloon display he'd brought with him behind his back.

"Obervant of you," she shot back, more sarcastic than he would've pinned with those curly-cues and baby blue eyes. She eyed the balloons curiously. "What's that?"

"It's nothing," Sean said quickly, starting to retreat, annoyed and chagrined that his joke had gone wrong.

The girl plucked one of the balloons from behind him as he went to turn away, though. She was quick for such a tiny thing. "Thanks for Arresting Me the Day After I Turned 18," she read off the balloon, pronouncing the words one by one. She chuckled, blue eyes lighting up prettily. "Catchy."

He shrugged, half-smiling. "Yeah, well, the Sheriff changed my life, what can I say?"

"He sort of changed mine, too," Tess said.

"Oh yeah? He get you sent to State, too?"

She shook her head, a softness in her eyes. "He took me in."

He looked her over, surprised by her reply. "I guess you're pretty cute for a stray." She smiled, and he nodded towards the balloons. "Makes me feel bad about these," he said, sighing.

She giggled. "Oh, don't. Jim'll get a kick out of them."

He quirked an eyebrow at her. "What's your name?"

"Tess. Harding. Yours?"

"Sean Deluca. You dating that Valenti kid, Tess Harding?"

She grinned flirtatiously. "Not at the moment."

He grinned, too. "Good answer."

Title: Reunion
For: nibbles
Pairing: Max/Michael friendship

We all saw the headlights at the same time. Isabel took my hand. We knew we'd be safe as long as we stayed together. I held my hand out for Michael. I knew he wanted to. He just wouldn't take it. So we just looked at each other for a long time. Wouldn't see him again for three years. —The Balance

"Hey, I know you."

"Like hell you do, go away you little geek."

At the tender age of nine, Max Evans had had his fair share of bullying, but he wasn't about to be dissuaded. He'd only seen spiky hair like that once before in his short life. He grabbed the boy's shoulder. "Hey. I said I know you."

"Nobody knows me genius, I'm new," the spiky-haired boy said, but then he got a look at Max and his eyes grew wide. "Oh," he said, trying to sound nonchalant. "It's you."

The boys stared at each other, in awe and shock that they'd found someone else like them. They watched each other warily, both looking like they didn't trust whatever the other might do.

"Isabel still cries at night because you're missing," Max said, finally.

"I'm not missing. I'm right here," the boy said, obstinately. Then, "Who's Isabel?"

"My sister."

"Oh yeah, her."

"Why didn't you come with us?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "I'm here now. What's your name, anyhow?"

"Max."

The kid laughed. "Like Maxwell?"

Max shrugged. "Just Max. You?"

"Michael."

"We're gonna be friends, Michael."

Michael simply shrugged again. "Whatever you say, Maxwell. Whatever you say."
