Star Wars--Rogue, Adult, 1/?, 11/7/06

Post by Ravenheart »

Title: Rogue
Part: 1/?
Summary: A rogue Jedi gets more attention than he wants, but who gets his attention? Plus is there something about him even he doesn't know?
Disclaimer: I don't own anything, except maybe a few characters.
Author's Note: This is set 25 years after New Jedi Order. I would love for someone to beta-read this considering it is my first Star Wars fanfic.

Chapter One

Serene sipped her blue colored drink as she watched the target. It took them weeks to track him, but they finally found him on Tatooine. It was pure luck he had entered the cantina while they were still inside.

Black hair fell over his shoulders in waves. A black cloak hid most of his body from view, but she knew he carried a lightsaber at his side.

Taren was a rogue Jedi and had caught the attention of the Council.

“He’s still there?” Master Vesta asked.

Serene nodded her eyes on the rogue. He stood with confidence and aggression. He wouldn’t give up without a fight if they tried to capture him.

“We’ll have to be careful,” Serene said. “He’ll fight us without hesitation.”

“He can fight all he wants,” Jasper spoke calmly. “He’ll still be taken to the Council.”

Serene sighed and sat back. She knew Jasper was right, but it wasn’t going to be easy.

“He’s leaving,” Master Vesta mentioned. “Let’s go.”

Taren stepped out into the bright sunshine. He blinked his eyes until they adjusted to the brightness.

The bustle and noise of the citizens almost drowned out his thoughts. He grumbled as he made his way to his ship.

Taren knew he was being pursued and he made it a point to stay one step ahead of them. He didn’t know why they were following him, but he refused to stick around to find out. It couldn’t be good anyway. It never was.

A ronto roared beside him, startling him. He glared at the beast then continued toward the landing ports.

A tingle went through him, someone was close. Taren smiled slightly.

Won’t be close for long, he thought, pulling his hood up and disappearing down a side alley.

Taren pressed his back to the wall and watched as a group of tan-clothed individuals passed by. His attention fell on one dark-haired woman.

She walked with authority and self-assurance. He sensed her power and was drown to it.

Taren turned away before he chased after her. He headed down the alley, a short cut to the port.

Fifteen minutes later, Taren raced up the plank of his ship Black Star. Smaller then most freighter ships, it was just as fast. He had stolen it from its former owner three years ago.

Taren headed into the cockpit then stopped short. The group who had been following him earlier stood before his ship.

“Great,” he said, pressing buttons on the consol to close the plank door. The sound of the door closing brought a smile to his face.
“Let’s see you get through that,” Taren whispered as he prepared the ship for take off.

The groaning of the door opening made him pause. Taren looked up and saw the group racing toward his ship.

“No you don’t,” he growled, trying to get the guns online.

Hurried footsteps sounded behind him and he cursed. They were on the ship.

Taren spun around and hurried to meet them. Whatever they wanted they were not getting it without a fight.

“Taren,” a voice stopped him in the corridor.

He glanced at the woman who had caught his attention earlier. She stepped closer to him. He raised an eyebrow. What was she playing at?

“We don’t mean you any harm,” she said, her voice soothing. “The Council wants to talk to you.”

Taren narrowed his eyes. “Council?”

“Jedi Council,” another voice spoke up.

Taren turned toward the voice. The blonde-haired man was two inches taller than Taren. Green eyes stared back with intelligence and determination. The man would give him trouble.

Two more people stood behind the man. One, a red—headed woman, the other, a dark-haired man. Taren glanced at each of them in turn.

“So you’re all Jedi?” Taren asked calmly as he calculated his escape.

“Yes,” the dark-haired woman answered.

“Fighting will only make things worse for you,” the tall man said. “You are coming with us.”

Taren glared at the man. He sensed great power from him, but he wasn’t about to be intimidated by anyone.

“You underestimate me,” he said before he sent the three flying backwards.

“Taren!” the brunette shouted.

The sound of lightsabers being turned on surrounded him. HE smiled as he drew his. Violet blades shot out from their hilts as he glared at the Jedi surrounding him.

“Who wants to be first?” Taren asked, twirling both sabers.

A blue blade came at him, but he blocked it with his right saber. Another Jedi charged him, green blade high. Taren sent a storm of lightening at the youth, stopping him in his tracks.

Serene shook the awe from her mind and focused on capturing the rogue. She stepped back and tired a different tactic. Seeing Taren shock Jasper was unexpected. She had no idea he welded such power. He was truly dangerous.

He fought Master Vesta as if he had been born with lightsabers in his hands. Taren blocked and parried each of the Master’s attacks. The dance was beautiful and deadly.

Seeing an opportunity, Serene charged into the fight. Taren used his off hand saber to block her attack from behind. He kicked her away then focused his full attention on Vesta.

“Stay back, Serene,” Vesta warned.

Serene saw to Jesper as the Master fought Taren. The saber fight echoed behind her as she helped Jesper to his feet.

“He’s a menace,” Jesper gasped, trying to catch his breath.

“We underestimated his power,” Serene said, moving out of the way of the opponents.

“Tell me again why the Council wants him?”

Serene shook her head as Taren used his lightening. Vesta retaliated by sending Taren into the bulkhead. Taren didn’t get up.

“Taren!” Serene shouted, getting to her feet.

“He’s fine,” Vesta said, putting his saber away. “We’ll use his ship to get him to the Council.”

Serene went to the rogue lying on his back. The violet blades were back in their hilts. Wanting a closer look, she knelt beside him.

He was attractive. His lips were firm and sensual, his nose straight. She was surprised at how young he was. With that much power, she’d thought he would be older.

“Jesper, get this bucket in space,” Master Vesta ordered.

Serene helped Carlatta carry the rogue to his quarters; where ever they were.

“He is handsome,” the red-head said. “You think he could be persuaded to join us?”

Serene stared at the rogue and wondered that herself.

Taren wore all black, from his tunic to his boots. She had to admit he was intimidating all in black.

They found the quarters in the back of the ship and placed Taren on the bed. Serene glanced back once more before closing the door.

Chapter Two

Post by Ravenheart »

Taren woke and found himself in a bare room. The only furniture was the bed he lay on. Grey walls surrounded him while a door was to his right. How long would it take someone to go insane? He did not want to find out.

Taren pushed himself to a sitting position then realized his hands were bound. He stared in shock at the gold glove-like shackles encasing his hands.

“What is this?” Taren asked perplexed.

He shook his head and tried to will the shackles off. The result was a splitting headache. Taren shut his eyes against the pain.

“You tried to use your powers didn’t you?”

Taren looked up, blinking away the pain. The brunette stood before him, a slight smile on her face. He glared at her in answer.

“The shackles prevent you from using your powers. We don’t want you trying to escape.”

“Who are you?” Taren demanded.

“My name is Serene Valek.”

“Where am I? What do you want with me?”

“I have no idea what the Council wants with you,” Serene answered, stepping deeper into the room. “It was my mission to capture you.”

Taren narrowed his eyes, not liking secrets. She knew the reason; she didn’t want to tell him. If only he could probe her mind.
Stupid shackles, Taren thought angrily.

“They’ll want to talk to you soon,” Serene said. “Is there anything I can get you?”

“The keys to these shackles,” Taren suggested.

Serene smiled. “I’m afraid I can’t do that, Taren. Sorry.”

“How do you know my name?” Taren asked, suddenly suspicious. Had they always been watching him?

“We have records on you. The Council has been interested in you for awhile.”

“Any they just now want to talk to me?”

Serene shrugged. “You need to ask them that question.”

“I’ll be sure to do that,” he growled.

“You’re angry.”

Taren raised an eyebrow. “How would you feel if you’ve been kidnapped and no one tells you why?”

“You haven’t been kidnapped,” Serene said, stepping closer. “You wouldn’t come peacefully.”

“I was practically ambushed!” Taren said, standing. “You should have expected me to defend myself.”

“We did,” Serene folded her arms across her chest.

Taren stared at her breasts, his mouth suddenly dry. He forced his eyes to her face as the door to his room opened.

The blonde-haired man who helped kidnap him entered the room. Taren narrowed his eyes, wishing he could use his powers. The man studied him for a moment before speaking.

“I am Master Vesta. The Council will see you now.”

Taren raised an eyebrow. “How nice.”

Vesta shook his head, but said nothing. The Jedi Master and Serene left the room motioning for him to follow. Taren sighed. His curiosity piqued, followed them.

###

Serene stood to the side as Taren stepped into the room. His stance oozed arrogance but another emotion flowed from him, anger. Anger at being here? Anger at the restraints? She shook her head and sighed. She would let the Council deal with the rogue’s temper.

“Anger flows from that one,” Carlotta whispered beside her. “I’m surprised he hasn’t fallen to the dark side, yet.”

Serene nodded in agreement. She did not sense the dark side from Taren. How was he able to keep from such a path? He fascinated her, but she vowed to keep it to herself. Serene didn’t want him to get the wrong idea.

He’s arrogant enough to think its more, she thought.

Taren stared at the six Jedi before him. They sat in a semi-circle, all dressed in plain brown and tan robes. Did these people ever hear of color?

The room was a bright cavern but sparsely furnished. The six chairs were the only furniture he could see. He wondered if a whisper would echo in this place.

Why am I here? Taren wondered. What do these people want with me?

“You are Taren?” The Jedi in the middle, a woman in her mid-thirties asked.

“Yes,” Taren answered, an eyebrow raised. “What am I doing here?”

“You are a rogue Jedi,” a black robed Jedi said.

Taren stared at the man. Where had he come from? He didn’t remember seeing him earlier.

Immense power flowed from the older man; more than Master Vesta. Who was this man and what was going on?

“I am Master Skywalker,” the man said as if he read Taren’s mind. “We want to know how you became a Jedi without proper training.”

Taren blinked in bewilderment. Is that all they wanted? He doubted it but he would humor them for now.

“I trained myself,” he answered.

The Jedi stared at each other. Taren smirked and tried to fold his arms across his chest. He growled to himself when he realized the shackles were still on his hands.

“Can someone please take these things off?” Taren asked, frustrated.

“How did you learn your powers?” The female Jedi Master asked.

Taren stared at her, startled by the question. He shrugged his shoulders. “I was ten and helping my father with repairs on Dantooine. My father asked for a hypo-spanner to fix a droid. I turned to retrieve it and the next minute it was in my hand. I don’t remember how it happened or why. I didn’t think anything about it after that until it happened again two weeks later.”

“It just happened?” Skywalker asked. “No one came to you after that?”

Taren shook his head, wondering if the man meant someone like him. He had never seen any Jedi on Dantooine at all.

“So you trained yourself to use those abilities,” The female continued.

“When I thought they would help around the farm, yes,” Taren said. “They made things easier. I was amazed each time I learned a new power.”

“How did you know how to make a lightsaber?” Skywalker asked, stepping closer, his hands in the folds of his robe.

“It came to me in a dream. I saw a woman with a yellow light fighting someone else. I felt I needed to have such a weapon. When I woke, I had to build it.”

“Without the knowledge of how? I can’t believe it.”

“Believe it, Mistress Zara,” Master Skywalker said without looking at her. “The proof is standing before you.”

“He’s still unpredictable,” Zara said. “We don’t know much about him.”

“I’m standing right here,” Taren said, angered they could talk about him as if he wasn’t there. “Why don’t you ask me?”

The Jedi stared at him, surprised by his sudden outburst. He raised an eyebrow, wishing they would get to the point; if there was one.

“You have created havoc everywhere you have been,” another man, this one appeared to be in his forties, put in. “We have been watching you, wondering if the disturbance we have felt in the Force was you.”

“What disturbance?” Taren asked, stunned by this news. Wouldn’t he have felt something? He then remembered a strange sensation he had when he had stolen the Black Star on Nar Shaddaa. At the time, he didn’t know what it meant and had ignored it.

“You must have felt it?” Skywalker said.

“It means trouble for all of us,” Zara put in.

“I felt something,” Taren answered. “I didn’t know what it meant at the time.”

“Now you do,” Skywalker said. “And you are going to help us.”
