Title: Rogue
Part: 1/?
Summary: A rogue Jedi gets more attention than he wants, but who gets his attention? Plus is there something about him even he doesn't know?
Disclaimer: I don't own anything, except maybe a few characters.
Author's Note: This is set 25 years after New Jedi Order. I would love for someone to beta-read this considering it is my first Star Wars fanfic.
Chapter One
Serene sipped her blue colored drink as she watched the target. It took them weeks to track him, but they finally found him on Tatooine. It was pure luck he had entered the cantina while they were still inside.
Black hair fell over his shoulders in waves. A black cloak hid most of his body from view, but she knew he carried a lightsaber at his side.
Taren was a rogue Jedi and had caught the attention of the Council.
“He’s still there?” Master Vesta asked.
Serene nodded her eyes on the rogue. He stood with confidence and aggression. He wouldn’t give up without a fight if they tried to capture him.
“We’ll have to be careful,” Serene said. “He’ll fight us without hesitation.”
“He can fight all he wants,” Jasper spoke calmly. “He’ll still be taken to the Council.”
Serene sighed and sat back. She knew Jasper was right, but it wasn’t going to be easy.
“He’s leaving,” Master Vesta mentioned. “Let’s go.”
Taren stepped out into the bright sunshine. He blinked his eyes until they adjusted to the brightness.
The bustle and noise of the citizens almost drowned out his thoughts. He grumbled as he made his way to his ship.
Taren knew he was being pursued and he made it a point to stay one step ahead of them. He didn’t know why they were following him, but he refused to stick around to find out. It couldn’t be good anyway. It never was.
A ronto roared beside him, startling him. He glared at the beast then continued toward the landing ports.
A tingle went through him, someone was close. Taren smiled slightly.
Won’t be close for long, he thought, pulling his hood up and disappearing down a side alley.
Taren pressed his back to the wall and watched as a group of tan-clothed individuals passed by. His attention fell on one dark-haired woman.
She walked with authority and self-assurance. He sensed her power and was drown to it.
Taren turned away before he chased after her. He headed down the alley, a short cut to the port.
Fifteen minutes later, Taren raced up the plank of his ship Black Star. Smaller then most freighter ships, it was just as fast. He had stolen it from its former owner three years ago.
Taren headed into the cockpit then stopped short. The group who had been following him earlier stood before his ship.
“Great,” he said, pressing buttons on the consol to close the plank door. The sound of the door closing brought a smile to his face.
“Let’s see you get through that,” Taren whispered as he prepared the ship for take off.
The groaning of the door opening made him pause. Taren looked up and saw the group racing toward his ship.
“No you don’t,” he growled, trying to get the guns online.
Hurried footsteps sounded behind him and he cursed. They were on the ship.
Taren spun around and hurried to meet them. Whatever they wanted they were not getting it without a fight.
“Taren,” a voice stopped him in the corridor.
He glanced at the woman who had caught his attention earlier. She stepped closer to him. He raised an eyebrow. What was she playing at?
“We don’t mean you any harm,” she said, her voice soothing. “The Council wants to talk to you.”
Taren narrowed his eyes. “Council?”
“Jedi Council,” another voice spoke up.
Taren turned toward the voice. The blonde-haired man was two inches taller than Taren. Green eyes stared back with intelligence and determination. The man would give him trouble.
Two more people stood behind the man. One, a red—headed woman, the other, a dark-haired man. Taren glanced at each of them in turn.
“So you’re all Jedi?” Taren asked calmly as he calculated his escape.
“Yes,” the dark-haired woman answered.
“Fighting will only make things worse for you,” the tall man said. “You are coming with us.”
Taren glared at the man. He sensed great power from him, but he wasn’t about to be intimidated by anyone.
“You underestimate me,” he said before he sent the three flying backwards.
“Taren!” the brunette shouted.
The sound of lightsabers being turned on surrounded him. HE smiled as he drew his. Violet blades shot out from their hilts as he glared at the Jedi surrounding him.
“Who wants to be first?” Taren asked, twirling both sabers.
A blue blade came at him, but he blocked it with his right saber. Another Jedi charged him, green blade high. Taren sent a storm of lightening at the youth, stopping him in his tracks.
Serene shook the awe from her mind and focused on capturing the rogue. She stepped back and tired a different tactic. Seeing Taren shock Jasper was unexpected. She had no idea he welded such power. He was truly dangerous.
He fought Master Vesta as if he had been born with lightsabers in his hands. Taren blocked and parried each of the Master’s attacks. The dance was beautiful and deadly.
Seeing an opportunity, Serene charged into the fight. Taren used his off hand saber to block her attack from behind. He kicked her away then focused his full attention on Vesta.
“Stay back, Serene,” Vesta warned.
Serene saw to Jesper as the Master fought Taren. The saber fight echoed behind her as she helped Jesper to his feet.
“He’s a menace,” Jesper gasped, trying to catch his breath.
“We underestimated his power,” Serene said, moving out of the way of the opponents.
“Tell me again why the Council wants him?”
Serene shook her head as Taren used his lightening. Vesta retaliated by sending Taren into the bulkhead. Taren didn’t get up.
“Taren!” Serene shouted, getting to her feet.
“He’s fine,” Vesta said, putting his saber away. “We’ll use his ship to get him to the Council.”
Serene went to the rogue lying on his back. The violet blades were back in their hilts. Wanting a closer look, she knelt beside him.
He was attractive. His lips were firm and sensual, his nose straight. She was surprised at how young he was. With that much power, she’d thought he would be older.
“Jesper, get this bucket in space,” Master Vesta ordered.
Serene helped Carlatta carry the rogue to his quarters; where ever they were.
“He is handsome,” the red-head said. “You think he could be persuaded to join us?”
Serene stared at the rogue and wondered that herself.
Taren wore all black, from his tunic to his boots. She had to admit he was intimidating all in black.
They found the quarters in the back of the ship and placed Taren on the bed. Serene glanced back once more before closing the door.
