When things go wrong, don’t go with them. – Elvis Presley
This has been a week of things going wrong for me. As I mentioned in a previous post the New England area was hit by a nor’easter. This is not an unusual, but what was unusual was the
amount of leaves still on the trees. The snow stuck to those leaves and those branches weighing them down and causing power failures throughout the region. My power went out around 10:00 on Saturday and didn’t come back on until late yesterday. My biggest worry was all the groceries I’d bought on Saturday. However, there was snow (lots of snow) so we packed up the food in sealed containers and put them out on the porch and covered them with snow. We charged our cell phones in the car and visited a couple of internet cafes to get our internet fix. In my journeys out and about looking for warmth and hot food, I listened to a lot of people complain and complain about the lack of power and how poorly the power companies were dealing with the situation. To me, those people were a perfect example of today’s quote. Things were going wrong and they were going wrong with them. Yeah, being without power is tough. It’s in no way, shape or form a fun thing, but if you sit and complain and grouch, it’s just going to seem worse than it already is.
I think this quote can and should be applied to all aspects of your life. Bad things happen, things go wrong, it’s a fact of life. But instead of letting them drag you down with them, try and find the good in them. If that’s to much, then just try and make the best of it. You’ll find yourself happier in the long run.
