It’s not about being the best, it’s about being better than you were yesterday.
I think it’s human nature to compare ourselves to others, and measure our accomplishments against theirs in that never ending race to “Be the Best!” I’m wondering though, why do we do that? What earthly good does it do to compare ourselves to others. Human nature being what it is, we’ll almost always find ourselves lacking. It will create feelin
gs of inferiority, and discouragement. Instead, wouldn’t it make more sense to compare yourself against yourself? Look at who you were yesterday, or what you accomplished yesterday, and strive to be better than that. You don’t need to worry if you’re better than your office mate, or your next door neighbor, or the kid in the desk next to you at school. It doesn’t matter if the person in the gym can lift more weight than you, or the guy jogging down the road has run farther than you. What matters is that first you take pride in what you have accomplished. If you strive to be better than somebody, strive to be better than the person you were yesterday. The only yardstick you have to measure against, is yourself.
