Onward and Upward

Share on:

I’m not yet where I want to be, but thank goodness, I’m not where I used to be. Onward and upward! Karen Salmansohn

I am absolutely in love with this quote.  Never mind the fact that the Onward and upward makes me think of “Further up and further in,” from C.S. Lewis The Last Battle, I just love everything about this quote!  It’s honest and real.  It acknowledges the fact that yeah, your life may not be perfect and you may not have met your goals,  but it’s ok because chances are, you aren’t where you started out.  We’re a society that wants immediate gratification.  We diet for a few days and don’t understand why we’re not at our goal weight, or we visualize for 10 minutes and don’t understand why the mcmansion of our dreams hasn’t appeared in front of us.  We need to let go of the need for immediate gratification and look at the progress that we’ve made and CELEBRATE!
