Self Love, Not Hate

Share on:

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire Universe, deserve your love and affection. —Buddha

If you sat down and thought about the one person you hate the most in the world, I bet the answer would surprise you.  If someone asked you to answer honestly, for about 99% of us, the answer would have to be ourselves.  Seriously, we tend to hate ourselves.  We treat ourselves with disrespect and talk to ourselves with such vile hate that it isn’t even funny.  Think about it, how many times have you said to yourself, “I’m so stupid,” or “I can’t believe I just buddha_statuedid that, what an idiot.”  And lets not even get started how hard we are on ourselves about our physical appearance.  “I’m so fat,” and “My nose is so big,”  and “If I could just lose 50 pounds, then he/she would like me.”  News flash, we are all WONDERFUL people and while none of us are perfect, none of us deserve the hate we heap upon ourselves.  Start appreciating yourself.  Be proud of what you’ve accomplished.  It’s okay to own your mistakes, but beating yourself up.  Don’t be your own worst enemy, instead be your own best friend.
