Real love is accepting other people the way they are without trying to change them. – don Miguel Ruiz
We all know this, and as we grow and mature, we even get it. You can’t enter in to a relationship with the intention of changing someone, or fixing them. When you love someone, you need to love them for who they are, faults and virtues included. For the most part, we all get that, and we accept that. We love our significant others for who they
are, not who they may become. I wonder, how many of us, though, love ourselves that much. How many of us accept ourselves for who we are? I know I don’t. I’m always dissatisfied with who I am, how I look and even how I feel. I’m always trying to change myself to fit into some mold that has been designed by society. We should focus on loving ourselves for who we are, and how we are. It’s okay to want to be healthier, or to learn a new skill, but we should still LOVE the person that we are!
