Cheer Up

Share on:

The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer someone else up. – Mark Twain

I really had to give this one some thought, and then it was like a lightbulb went off.  I must have been having a duh moment because seriously, this one doesn’t require much thought.  It’s so true.  When you’re sad, or angry or whatever, and you’re focusing on that, the mood just seems to get magnified until it consumes us.  It festers and takes over.  When you’re focusing on somebody else, your not focusing on you.  You’re putting your energy into them and what they’re dealing with.  I’m not saying you should ever ignore your own issues, but if you’re feeling down about something, or angry, try focusing on somebody else – make them laugh, or even smile, and I bet you’ll notice a lightening of your own mood.
