It’s All in What You Do

What we think or what we know or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do. – John Ruskin

You’ve all heard the expression about the road to hell being paved with good intentions I’m sure. When you think about it, it’s really true. You can have all these grandiose ideas and plans, and that’s great, but if you don’t follow through they mean nothing.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have grand thoughts and ideas and develop huge plans – you just have to follow through. Maybe that means starting out small. I know for me it does. I need to focus on changing me and my little part of the world before I try and change the world. But I think that if I do manage to change me, it will, in some small way, change the world as well.

My thoughts today:

You can talk the talk, but if you don’t walk the walk, does it really matter?  I don’t think so.  It’s all in what you do.  Saturday is traditionally my day to it's all in what you dobe super lazy.  Maybe do some laundry and go grocery shopping, but pretty much, that’s it.  Well, I’ve spent a lot of time whining talking about how busy I’ve been at school this week.  I also talk a lot about honoring commitments and being responsible, which is why I spent over 4 hours this morning working on IEPs.  It’s all in what you do, and what I did was my job.  I’m not looking for a brass band, though some confetti would be nice, lol.  What I do have is an incredible sense of pride in myself for making a plan (to bring work home) and following through (getting it done).  Am I completely done?  No, of course not, but I’m way better off than I was.

It’s all in what you do.  If you say you’re going to do it, then do it.  If you have a plan, then follow through.  Not much has changed since I originally posted this quote.  Make the plan, start small if you need to, and most important of all, follow through, because it’s all in what you do.
