Fear of the Unknown

Share on:

We all have a fear of the unknown. What one does with that fear will make all the difference in the world. – Lillian Russell

We all have a fear of the unknown.  If the truth be told, a lot of us even have a fear of the known!  Fear is not a bad thing.  In fact, fear can be pretty fear of the unknowndarn helpful if we’re being honest.  The trick is to develop a healthy relationship with fear.  Respect it, but don’t let it rule your life.

Think about it….fear keeps us from doing things that may cause us harm.  That’s a good thing.  Letting that fear cripple you and stop you from doing anything, well that’s a bad thing.  You have to find the balance.  I seem to be talking a lot about explorers of old, lately but its working for me.  Imagine those explorers – they were in boats that were barely seaworthy, no navigational tools and no idea of where they were going and what they would find IF they got there.  What would have happened if they just looked out at that ocean and said “Nope, not happing!”  But they didn’t. They balanced their fear of the unknown with their quest for knowledge.

It’s what we all need to do.  Respect the fear you feel.  It’s there for a reason, but at the same time, don’t let it hold you prisoner.  Fear of the unknown is a natural fear, but remember, you could just discover a whole new world!.
