It is neither wealth nor splendor; but tranquility and occupation which give you happiness. – Thomas Jefferson
So wow – I’m actually blogging. I feel badly that I’ve barely blogged at all recently, but real life has me by the toenails lately. It’s just been go go go go go lately. With all the going, something had to give, and its been blogging. I’m hoping after the holidays, the pace will slow just a bit – or I’ll get better at managing my time. I had to blog about this quote because I was just talking with my students about something similar. We were discussing our Christmas wishes, and they, like most kids, are consumed with wanting things, because things will of course make them happier than can be imagined. I told them my views on things. Things are great, things rock, and having things is awesome, but things can not and will not make them happy. True happiness comes from within, and no matter how many things they amass in their lives, they’ll never truly be happy until they are happy with who they are.
