Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
I am a coward. I am a HUGE coward in fact. I hate trying new things. And by new things, I mean new EVERYTHING. The list is endless of new things that I don’t want to try. Foods, style of clothing, routes to work, activities, styles of books….it just goes on and on. I am in my comfy little rut, and for the most part, I used to like it that way. But I finally realized, I wasn’t getting anywhere, and I wasn’t going to get anywhere unless I started to branch out and try new and different things. I may hate them, I may love them, but I’m never going to know and never going to grow unless I try.
I think it’s probably the same for all of us. We get comfortable where we are. It’s safe and secure, and of course, better the devil we know than the one we don’t. The thing is, if we stay in our safe little comfort zones, we stagnate. Imagine if everybody did that. I’d be carving this blog on a rock instead of typing it on my laptop. Okay that was an extreme example but you get what I mean. Step out of your comfort zone. Take a chance, and grow to be the person you could be instead of remaining the person that you are.
