True Happiness

Share on:

True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so  wants nothing. The great blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach.
~ Seneca

I am so guilty of this….I forget to be satisfied with what I have, and honestly, that’s really dumb, because I am blessed with so many things.  I think that every day, we should sit back and make a list of all the good things we have in our lives.  I have a job, I have a car, well the bank and I have a car.  I have a place to live, I have food to eat.  I have clothing to wear.  I have amazing children, and great friends.  I have people I love and people that love me.  The list of all the good and great things that I have is ENDLESS.  I still want more, and that’s okay.  What isn’t okay is losing sight of what you have right now.  Having more things isn’t going to make me happier, and I bet it won’t make you happier either.  Find enjoyment in where you are right now, that’s where the richness is.  It’s right here, right now.
