Perception is Key

We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what’s wrong in your life, or you can focus on what’s right. – Marianne Williamson

There is the glass, is it half full or half empty?  Then there is the donut, do you look at the yummy cakey goodness, or the big, ginormous whole in the middle?  I have seen friends come back from shopping loaded down with bags filled with beautiful clothing, griping because they didn’t find the “perfect dress.”  Okay, sure, maybe you didn’t find the perfect dress, but you have all those other things you bought!

I don’t understand why people persist in looking for the bad in life, or focusing on the negative.  I know it’s tiresome for me to listen to it, I can only assume that it’s equally as tiresome to cultivate a negative attitude.  Maybe I’m wrong, maybe focusing on the negatives takes very little effort.  The same could be said for focusing on the positives.  Focusing on the positives is easy, and it makes you feel good.  If both take the same amount of effort, wouldn’t you want to focus on the positives and cultivate a good attitude?  I know I do.
