A Conundrum at the Crossroads

Share on:

Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough. – Oprah Winfrey

Good morning everybody, and Happy New Year.  I hope you all had a chance to check out the guest post by Ian Lock “The Importance of Self Belief.”

I’ve been rather quiet on the posting front lately, for a variety of reasons, some good, some not so good, but all of them have given CrossRoadsme something to reflect upon. I”m at this crossroad in my life, and I feel that if I take a wrong turn, there will be no finding my way back.  As a result, I’ve made no turns, I’ve just stagnated at the crossroad waiting for a decision to be made for me.  I’m going to go on record as saying that is NOT an effective way to deal with things.

This morning, when I was writing the Daily Positive Thought on my blackboard for my students, I started thinking about it.  I started to think about what I am thankful for – not what I SHOULD be thankful for – but what I am thankful for when I realized I am not doing such a great job at being thankful.  I have money in the bank.  I don’t have enough, but I do have money in the bank.  Right there, that’s what I’m doing.  I need to let go of the I don’t have enough, qualifier and just celebrate the fact that I have money in the bank.  What I haven’t figured out is how to balance being thankful for what I have with the reality of having bills to pay and watching my balance dwindle.  The goal is to be thankful for what I have while finding a positive solution to what could be considered negative.  Focusing on finding a solution is a step, a positive step, in the right direction.

I don’t think that I’m alone in this conundrum.  Let me know what you’ve done to help you be grateful for what you do have, while still finding a way to make things even better.
