Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does. – William James
I gave this quote a LOT of thought this morning. My immediate reactions was “Duh – of course what you do makes a difference. Every single solitary thing you do impacts somebody in some way.” Then I started looking deeper at the meaning of this quote. On
the surface, yes, it is a state the obvious moment, but look below the surface and think about for a moment. Something as insignificant as a smile, or a cheerful greeting and change the mood of somebody else. More important, a smile and a cheeful word can make a difference in the most important person in your world – yourself!
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. You are responsible for you. What you say, think and do impacts a lot of people, but first and foremost, it impacts yourself. Why not do things that are going to make you feel good and be happy? It’s a ripple effect. If you are happy, that happiness radiates off of you and encompasses those around you, spreading ever outward. It’s pretty cool when you think about it. Everything you do DOES make a difference
