Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. — Søren Kierkegaard
We can’t look forward to the future and know and understand what’s going to happen, because the future is ever changing. We can look back and examine what happened in the past and learn from it. But the past is just that, the past. We can’t live there. We can hold on to memories, both good and bad, and learn from them. But then, the trick is to take those experinces with us when we live in the now, and use them to plan for the tomorrows that are coming. It’s kind of a balancing act. You can’t spend your life reliving your glory days, or beating yourself up over mistakes that were made, nor can you live going blindly forward without a plan. So learn from yesterday, live for now, and plan for tomorrow
