Hidden Strength

Share on:

The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of us but those who win battles we know nothing about. – Anonymous

So this quote did not go the way I anticipated when I presented it to the kids at school today.  It actually went to a better place than I ever could have dreamed of, especially for my students.  They took it to mean, that you never know what someone is going through internally, so don’t judge.  I was psyched, because for them, that was extremely insightful and also super true!  That was not, however what I got from the quote.  I was hoping they would realize that, yes, everyone has struggles, and don’t judge, but more importantly, to look at people.  Really look at them and pay attention to what they DON’T say.  You can learn a lot about people just by watching them and paying attention.  You’ll see the people that get it done without looking for recognition, who keep the drama to a minimum, the ones you can count on.  They are the ones that have the real strength and they are the ones we want to emulate.
