Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. – Harriet Beecher Stowe
There is a lot to be said for never giving up. I like the thought that you shouldn’t give up because eventually that things will work out. Persistence and
dedication are important. If you truly want and desire something, you need to be willing to put in the work and the time and not give up. However, sometimes there comes a time when you have to realize that what you’re shooting for may not happen. Take for example, a relationship. No matter how much you may love somebody, and how much you want it to work out, it just isn’t going to, and holding on will only delay the inevitable. Say for example you’re in a relationship with someone who is addicted to drugs. No matter how much you love them, your love won’t end their addiction, only they can do that. That is something you may have to walk away from and give up on to keep you safe. That doesn’t mean you walk away the first time something gets difficult or the first time you fail. Keep trying, keep working and keep hoping, but also try to keep a realistic grasp on things. We kind of live in a disposable society, something breaks, we get a new one, something’s not working out, we move on. We’ve almost conditioned ourselves to give up or move on. So it’s kind of hypocritical and wishy washy, but I leave you with this. Don’t give up and keep trying, but keep it real, too.
