Develop Confidence

Share on:

Low self-confidence isn’t a life sentence. Self-confidence can be learned, practiced, and mastered–just like any other skill. Once you master it, everything in your life will change for the better.
-Barrie Davenport

I really didn’t plan to have 3 posts in a row about confidence and self-confidence, and yet, here I am.  I think fate knows what it’s doing, however, because my confidence level has never been at an all time low. The other day, I talked about being confident, and ways to block out negativity from outside sources.  I didn’t talk about how to block out the negativity inside your own head.  That’s what I’m dealing with right now, and let me tell you, it’s so hard to get the voices inside of you to shut up some times.  I’m not talking about the scary, maybe I’m suffering from mental illness voices, but that one nagging voice inside your head that constantly wears away at you.  You know the one, don’t you?  It’s the one that says your too fat, too ugly, too stupid, too everything negative.

To me, that is the biggest cause of low self-confidence.  But you can beat it, and so can I.  For every negative thing that voice says to you, say two more positive things back to your self. It’s not easy (trust me, I know this first hand) but it’s important, and it does help.  But you have to do it.  All. The. Time.  Don’t stop just because you’re feeling more confidence.  You can never develop too much confidence.  Positive self-talk and and self-confidence is a skill, and like every skill, you need to keep practicing to keep your skills sharp.

So when those voices in your head start to wear you down, stop.  Take a deep breath and and drown out those voices with positive self talk and and develop confidence!
