Make Your Dreams Your Goals

Share on:

A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement. A goal without a plan is just a wish.

Everybody has dreams, well I hope everybody has dreams. I think without them, life would be incredibly meaningless. But how do you transition your dreams into goals. Well the first step is of course to have the dream, but then, the biggest, most important step is to take action. It doesn’t have to be a huge dramatic thing. It could be as simple as buying a notebook to write down your plan, or researching the steps you will need to take. What’s important is that you take that step.

My kids are at the age where they’re making decisions about college. They have lots of dreams about college, and now their taking the steps necessary to make their dreams goals. Some of their steps were easy – go to high school. That one is a given in our family. Take college prep classes, again easy, not so much the class work but the taking of the classes.  For them, this is where the challenges started, what to do next?  Well they took the first step to make their dreams goals.  They started researching colleges online.  A small step, but it makes the wish of going to college a goal.
