Are you a good friend?  Chances are, you’ll answer yes to that question.  Now, what do you say to yourself when you look in the mirror.  Chances are, it’s something like “Oh, look at those wrinkles,” or “My nose is SOOOO big,” or my own personal favorite, “I’m so freaking fat, I need to loose like a bazillion pounds.”

Now, I want you to imagine you’re sitting with your best friend, and they’re telling you about a huge mistake they’ve made.  You’d probably say things like “It’s okay,” or “Don’t worry, everything is going to be okay.”  All nice supportive messages.  Now think of a time when you made some type of mistake.  I bet you anything you beat yourself up over it and probably uttered phrases like “I’m such a jerk,” or “How could I be so stupid?”

If you wouldn’t talk to a friend that way, why would you treat yourself that way?  You should treat yourself  better than you would treat your best friend.  You should be the best friend you have.  Until you truly care about yourself, you won’t be able to be a true friend to anybody else.
