From Optimism to Achievement

Share on:

`Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope or confidence. – Helen Keller

When I was in sixth grade, I remember the guidance counselor came in and had a talk with us about optimism and pessimism. All I came away with from that discussion way back when was that “an optimist looks at the donut and the pessimist looks at the hole.” Her other gem was “the optimist sees the glass as half full and the pessimist sees the glass as half empty.” Sadly at 11 years old, the only two things I cared about that day were if the cute boy in the back of the room thought I was cute, and were we going to have a snow day the next day. I wish now, that guidance counselor had told us how important it is to have a positive outlook and to believe that you are capable of anything. And that having an optimistic outlook can help you to achieve great things. It’s never too soon to learn that your outlook effects your outcome.
