If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it. – Mary Engelbreit
There are a lot of things I don’t like about the world in general and my life in particular. When I was younger and far more idealistic, I thought I could
change the world. When I found that I in fact couldn’t change the world, I became miserable. Then I got smart. Well lets be honest, I got smarter. I decided to change the way I thought about the things that I couldn’t change. For example, I cannot find a cure for the HIV virus. I don’t have the skills. But what I can do is everything in my power to first never contract the virus, and second to make sure people around me are educated about it as well. It makes me feel a little better. It’s one small way I’m making a change.
So when you are faced with something that really disturbs you, of course, try and find a way to change it. If you can’t find a way to change it, try and find a new way to look at it, or find one small part of it you can change in some way. It will make you happier and you’ll help to make a difference
