Obtain Peace

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves. – Dalai Lama

Have you ever been all torn up and conflicted inside, but still presented a calm face to the world.  On one level, you may manage to get things accomplished, and on some level convince people that all is well in your world.  If you look objectively at what you’ve done, you’d probably find that it wasn’t your best work.  You won’t be able to give 100% to outside projects until you’ve given 100% to the inside project that is you.  I don’t want to say fix yourself, because you’re not broken, but it’s a good analogy.  You have to attend to yourself and make sure all is well in your own world before you can tackle the bigger problems that plague our world.  Look inside and figure out where you are and where you want to be and what it’s going to take to get you there.  Once you’re there, take a look at the world around you and I bet you’ll find that by obtaining peace within, you’re bringing peace to the world around you.
