It’s Kind of Like the Terminator

Our future is not predetermined. The roadblocks of our past can become the roads that lead us to our future.

Every time I read this quote, I’m reminded of the line from the Terminator movie. “We have no fate but that which we make.” We are not bound by our past, or even by our present. These things may influence who we become, but they do not determine it. Being born into poverty does not mean you are fated to remain poor all your life. Nor does it mean you are fated to be wealthy. It’s simply your starting point – a place to begin. You can use your past as a springboard to bigger and better things, or you can allow it to hold you back. The choice is yours.
